HELP!!!!!

I don't want to spend more than 3 bills and I want a solution that allows me to convert or DL video to a PC. I think I've found a PC solution...maybe. But I need some help on WTF it is I'm looking at here.

What is Hi-8, MiniDV, Digital - 8, etc....?

How much other crap, accessories am I going to have to buy for this thing?

Shoot me!!!! If you have a bullit and a shred of mercy in your soul!! You will just shoot me!!!

You won't find a decent Hi 8 under 3 bills, prob around 450.

Hi8 has a better resolution than vhs or vhsc. Try sony in hi8 of jvc or panasonic for vhsc.

All you need is a video card that will accept rca jacks and download Ulead from morphues or let me know and I'll get ity to ya. or just buy " Dazel " . It's about $99 for the good one. your cam will plug into it and the other end plugs into usb.

let me know if you need more info

The Dazel sounds like a WINNER!!! Woo Hoo!!! I have no free slots in my box right now and I don't want to buy a new video card right now.

What about Digital-8 vs hi-8? and What exactley are they.

Mr bill thank you.

dig 8 uses a higher grade tape. it will only use this tape not another hi8 tape. plus the dig8 will have more features on it like dig effects but it really is not important that much if you are running it through a filter or dazel. I just got adobe premier ( video editing ) last night from my pal morphues. It is confusing as hell ( its made for profesionals which i am not ) but it will do anything.

I have a mini dv panasonic, cost around $3000. It has everything on it. I used it to track my clients growth and training durring thier cycles

Thanks for the insights Djardin. I think I will go with the Hi-8 format and the dazel setup. This should keep my wife busy for the next three years easy! :)

I let my wife use it for one weekend on a camping trip and she came back and said " I just bought a disposeable camera, It was a lot easier ! "

Women just don't get electronics and thier importance in our lives !:D

shit WODIN, don't worry about all this new fancy-dancy technology. Just use the old hand-crank model like I do.

It's not the Tech that gives me pause....

It's that I am buying this for MY BIRTHDAY, thats the excuse, and its what my wife wants so she can go to town videotaping our kids. I was suppose to get one from "family" for christmas but they bought me a "HALL TABLE" instead. FUCK THEM!!!

For her bday she is getting a collection of Jenna Jameson/Aria Giovannini DVDs. I hope she likes them!!!

Make sure whatever you get interfaces well with your PC. I bought a JVC digital last year and while it's a fantastic camera and has a ton of features, it's like the only brand that doesn't interface directly with my laptop.

I had to install JVC's picture program. Download the pics or videos into that program and then reopen them in Picture It, Photoshop, etc.

Good Luck wit dat.

OH joy.....:)

I wonder how this will work with XP?

LOL!!!

I just bought a JVC 510, I'm running XP at home, and both the FireWire and USB interfaces work like a champ. Pulling the stills off the memory card is easy.

The only thing I'm running into is that I bought Pinnacle Studio DV, and it keeps locking up when I'm trying to render the VCD MPEG.

I paid around $600 for my cam, I think...

Wodin, what are you actually looking to do? Edit video or just capture images? I mean how in depth do you wanna get?
