callauses on hands from weights ?

Hi.

I have recently developed ugly hard patches of skin on my hands. I know it's from my weights & have recently bought a pair of lifting gloves.

But, they are still there. anyone else have or has had this problem ?

if so, how do you make them go away ?

Thanks ! :rainbow:

Use a foot buffer - like sandpaper - and use a HEAVY moisturizer at night. You can even wear gloves at night too. Should take a couple weeks to minimize. The skin there might always be a little tougher, but they will be pretty unnoticeable soon. :)

Count me in too! Some equipment have metal grips that are like cheese graters, but in general, I find my grip is stronger. I wuss out & use lifting straps for the heavy stuff though.

I use gloves & straps.....but also have calluses on my palms. I like them too....also makes me feel tuff

I have minor calluses from lifting and other activities. I just use a pumice stone at night before I hop in the shower.

I use gloves as well and still get calusses, it's espcially hard on me because I have psoriosis, and unless I tan very frequently it can get painful. My dermatologist recommended Neutrogena hand cream, and it seems to keep both issues under control, my hands stay soft. But I go through a tube every 3 weeks!

Oh and I, I'm new here =)

Welcome thatgirl!!

I try to use lifting gloves all the time, but sometimes they are just simply annoying. I put lotion on my hands CONSTANTLY throughout the day, so that keeps them pretty soft. Otherwise, try using a scrub and, like Daisy said, a heavy moisturizer at night should help out a lot.

Like DirtyD I also use a pumice stone. Also, 3-4 nights a week I sleep with plain old vasoline on my hands covered by the cheap plastic gloves you get in hair color kits.

I also agree that lifting glove blow, never use them. Therefore I know I need the protection of some of that calloused skin on my palms and fingers. Bear in mind that your body is making those callouses for a reason....it needs them to prevent blisters. So you have to find a happy medium between beauty and function.
