Burning Man

Okay, it's three days and counting till I leave for Burning Man. Thursday morning I am out of here for a week and a half in the desert... me... about 10,000 naked women, flamethrowers, high explosives, and some guy juggling 50,000 volts. There's no vending. You have to pack in all of your own food, water, and gear... and candyasses do not fair well in Black Rock City.

Half the fun of the event is seeing if you can survive.

Is anybody else going to be there?

Trust me... you do not need to bring 'shrooms. We usually advise newbies not to trip their first burn. Walking into Heaven is usually enough of an experience on its own. Heaven is a racous place.

AHA!!!! That's what's in your avatar. Damn, it has been bugging me for some time. I first herd of the burning man when we Drove an RV across the US and Back. When in San Francisco i spoke to some kid on the street selling little hand made necklesses, anyway he said he was raising money to go to the burning man.

how far are you from the actually venue? I have heard stories of people just running out of supplies because they drive there from cali to texas(that is where it is at, correct?), and there is just trash, crap, all over the place since there are no facilities at all, let alone accomodate 10k people. not for the weak of heart. maybe this is something I could venture to next year. camping is cool...

It's in Nevada... not Texas... about 120 miles into the desert. It's not trashed out at all. If somebody threw garbage he would seriously get his ass kicked out fast. People do run out of supplies... and nobody has much sympathy for them. They can drive to the nearest store... quite a distance away... but they can't buy ANYTHING like food or water in Burning Man... and if they don't have money for gear at a store after driving to it... they might as well just pack up and go home. Nobody is going to loan them funds.

We get a bunch of idiot kids every year that think Burning Man is a rave in the desert. They drop acid and X... and drink tequila in the desert heat... and then we have about 50 of them a day drop in the desert sun from heat exhaustion. The medic tent is filled to capacity most days... and a lot of them get permanently washed out.
