Bulking with a trim gut?

I'm bulking right now and I've gained total about 30 pounds. I love it because I'm benching almost 400 and squatting close to 500 and for a 190 pound 5'5" kid that's not bad. My bf% is probably quite a bit higher obviously than before. I don't do cardio because I'm a little worried about losing mass. I'm getting a gut and would at least like to trim it a bit. I'm not asking for washboard abs or anything. Running i know is basically the only way to cut up a gut but with the aid of something like hydroxycut help or hinder? I've never had to use a thermogenic before so I'm not sure if it's worth taking. Don't want to lose too much that's all.

You don't need a thermo, simply doing cardio will suffice. But more importantly, clean up the diet if you want to lose the gut. Prolly not what you want to hear, but there are no shortcuts.

thanks bros,
yeah that's what i figured. I hate cardio tho. not to mention i get wicked shin splints and can barely run a mile without feeling like i'll puke. i don't really eat unhealthy, i just eat a lot. oh well maybe i'll say fuck the abs and go for weight.

Try a bike instead or walk on the treadmill with it on the max incline(that shouldn't be as bad on the shins). I don't like cardio that much either but my mp3 player and headphones makes it better for me.

Yeah, MP3 player is key. Walking/running on a treadmill for 45 minutes is boring as hell when there's no music

You shouldn't get shin splits on a treadmill. But if you do try running slower. Since it also makes you puke, sounds like your running to fast.

Also you may want to get running shoes

First off, running isn't the only way to go about losing weight. You can use various other activities as forms of cardio. Second, you need to realize that for weight loss to occur (be it fat or muscle) you must be putting out more calories than you take in. Calories In < Calories Out. Simple math.

Once you realize this, it's a matter of determining where your maintenance level is, and then subbing off from there. Better yet, eat more, but use cardio to burn off the extra calories. This will result in better nutrient partitioning, among other things, and will give you better results.

I personally recommend sprinting - it's the best way to go about cardio, provided you have a proper shoe to fit your gait cycle and can tolerate it along with training.

5-6 days a week on the treadmill was starting to make me loco for a while there. Since I'm now able to mix my cardio up some with swimming and biking, the treadmill 2 or 3 times a week does'nt seem bad at all.

thanks guys, i appreciate all the help. I guess instead of being a lazy pile all day i'll try jogging or spriniting or something.

Try an ellipitcal trainer. It is far superior anyway at burning cals than any other cardio I have found and it is not stressful on the limbs. I never jog or run although I will do fast walking on the tread for a change up and biking.
