Bulging disk/workout question

drow

New member
Hey bros. I hurt my lower back, back in august. I was lifting at the gym and felt it all of a sudden. I just tried laying off the weights for awhile and kinda taking it easy but that didnt work. So finally i went to the doc and was told i had a bulging disk and that was causing the pain i had in my right leg and right ass cheak. I have been in physical therapy for about 3 weeks and its helping quit a bit but there is still some pain here and there. I was doin some reading and found out that one of the best ways to get rid of this and also to prevent in from happening again is to really focus on strengthing my core. I have also found some good exersises to do just this. Anyone got any insite about this? I would really like to get back in the gym but im so freakin scared im gonna hurt the progress ive made. Anyone ever go through this or have any tips for me? What are some of the really best exersises (with weights or not) that i need to be doing? Thanks for the help bros!!

I have the same problem in back.
L5 bulge disk and been dealing with it for 8 months. It's finally getting better with no pain. I've been doing a lot of stretches and weight training only with light weight with higher reps. I go see a chiropractic twice week. No squats, deadlifts or bent over rows. I also don't do any hamstring workouts. Use the machines that do effect your disc. The best advice too is listen to radar and lay of the weights and stretch. All the best in your recovery bro

rest and rehab.. thats it.

find a good recovery specialist who you can work w/ and follow their advice 100%

i ruptured two discs in my neck and working with some very talented people i was able to recover without surgery and get back into high level judo/grappling competition again.

if you mess around and half rest it you really risk a bad recovery and a very crappy outcome.

Ya i havent even been back to the gym in 3 months. The doctor and physical theropists both told me that i can really do anything i want as long as i dont overdo it or feel anything hurting. Im not planning on getting back in the gym and going balls to the wall. Just some small lifting and such so im not sitting on my nuts all day. Was planning on doing mostly machines that keep me sitting down and nothing that will load up my disks. This shit blows!!
