building lats

Chinups, BB rows, one-arm DB rows, pullups/pulldown (with grip variations)

Some argue deadlifts, but I don't think I would consider it a movement that encourages huge growth in the lats ... up for debate

Right now im doing this:

Barbell Rows
Seated Cable Rows
Full Hang Chins to front
Hyperextensions

Back is coming along nicely.

Deadlifts..... Its a core compound movement that recruits all major muscles in your back. I was watching a ron colemsn tape a while back and the narator asked him how he got his lats so big. He said deadlifts were his best massbuilder for is back hands down. At the time I was like whatever I didnt seee how they could make your lats grow not long after that I started doing deads every time I worked back. Well its been about 3 months and my back size and sterenth have really improved. Im positive it is from the deadlifts. Just try deads for a month, give your self time to get used to the movement and see if you notice a differance. I almost garentee you will

The width of your lats is developed with any pulldown/up motion, but to have that moster look that so many are looking for you need the complete back and deads are a core to that. IMO.

As much as I love deads, in the two years I did them and gaining 105lbs of strength in a little over a year, I got NO upper body growth at all. Ive been plateaud. Waist has gotten thicker though. I was focusing alot on one rep maxing, but doing reps as well, and many many sets. Id go with rows and chins as the staple for building lats.
