I find the top athletes have, Strength, agility, speed, endurance, technique and constituition. Granted the amounts vary for each sport.
I can't tell how I am training right now or even what I am doing, but I can tell you why. When I played organized athletics I was really one-dimensional, and I got beat a lot cause my toher attributes were neglected, when I started to work on other areas I became much better and didn't need to rely so much on some skills versus others.
Recently ( after last comp)I have noticed my progress has halted due to my one dimensional approach of just focusing on strength and a little technique. So my approach now is very simple yet hard at the same time cause it will take a lot dedication, in order:
A)Speed-explosive power
B)Endurance-anaerobic conditioning
C)Agility-lateral movement+flexibilty
D)Constitution-raw toughness
E)Technique- Form practice
F)Strength- Absolute strength
G)Body weight- pounds per pound force generation
I will be using different strategies; many I have learn here and a few I have worked out with some pro-athletes. To measure my training I will gauge my Events on Sunday eventhough I am four weeks into my training phase
