Build a Cheap Sled!!!!

b fold the truth

The guy that I got my stones from yesterday had built most of his own equipment. I should have taken a lot more pics but I was 1/2 way on my 12 hour trip with only about 2-3 hours of sleep and my balls were all jammed into my truck tightly:)

He had made his own sled from wood...in about 20 minutes.

He basically had 3 tires to flip, some stones, a log that weighed 200 pounds empty, a couple bars, a walkout squat rack, and a shed where he did deadlifts. I could not even fit into his shed. No windows, no electricity. An 8' x 8' wooden shed with a 6' ceiling...and a bar that sit on a pile of dirt.

His super yoke was made out of wood and plumbing pipe and had recently broken. ALL of his training was done outdoors...and he ONLY did his deadlifts in the shed. His squats and overhead presses were done outside in the heat, snow, ice, and rain...

This is the front of his house...

Why's he selling his stuff?

He makes stones for "money on the side". It is his spending money for the family basically...

OH! Ok. Maybe when Hannibal and I open Mammoth next spring (crosses fingers), we can hit him up for some equipment. :)

He only hand makes stones...but has his welder make other things. The stones were CHEAP!!!!!!!! He also has dropped all of them from 5' onto concrete to make sure that they will NOT crack or split...

I have a cousin, fairly local, that does welding. He may be making a monolift, a lower reverse hyper, another pulley system, a couple sleds, etc...for us. That will be nice. He does awesome work.

We are going to need alot more equipment (more power racks, etc...) if we are going to go commercial.

That reminds me of my first sled. The best thing about a sled like that is when you need extra weight, just tell the kids or wife to climb on. Although you might have to guess the wifes weight.:)

I think he put kegs on his sled for weight...
