Man, halfway into all my cycles I start getting anxiety. I have a propensity for anxiety to begin with. What do you all take. Herb wise I hear there is valarian, kava kava, etc... Sometimes I feel like stopping working out it gets so bad.

i have to take atleast 1-2 valuim per day for this. there is NO herb that helps my anxiety i tell ya!

as someone with ALOT OF EXPERIENCE with anti anxiety drugs, I can say this:valium and xanax are drugs that are very addictive. I'm on paxil now and I don't think it's all that great. Goto a psychiatrist and hopefully they will prescribe something like tofranil which you take at nite-over the counter stuff won't help you.

Paxil. I too am prone to agressive anxiety and to say the least it's hell. I take paxil. You don't realize it's working until you miss a dose and start loosing it again.

I had anxiety disorder. I was given a trycyclic antidepressant named Anafranil (Clomipramin HCL) and an SSRI named Faverin (Luvox). It took a year on this shit to start feeling better, but after the year all I can say is that it worked.

Xanax, valium and other tranquilizers are good for short term relief, but they will not cure your problem like the SSRI's do. I also hear they are highly addictive! :mix:

No offense but for anxiety, valium is horrible choice. If a doctor prescribed it for anxiety, I would get a new doctor. Valium hasn't been a recommend treatment for anxiety since the 70's.

The rap on Xanax being so highly addictive is bulls**t. The biggest problem that psychiatrists have is getting the patients to adequately dose themselves.

Now, don't get me wrong here, your body does adjust to taking it so you need to gradually reduce the dosage when you go off it.

Some of the SSRI's mentioned here do have a mild anti-anxiety affect and can be good treatments for mild anxiety.

Bear, sounds like you have moderate to sever anxiety. I would visit a doctor to get a prescription. It'll take a lot of stress out of your life and stress is catabolic!
