Bros, please help me out, Chest pains

huskers1

New member
I'm only 23 years old. I've been having chest pains for the last 5 days along with pains in my sternum, my lower and side ribs, and my upper erector muscles in my back. Last night i decided to go to the ER. I had my blood pressure checked that said 145/77, which they said was normal but was a little high for me, a chest x-ray which was normal, then ere comes the problem. They did an EKG on me and my lines were inverted instead of going upwards. whichthey said about 10% of patients they see have from birth. They said they wer going to give me a blood test to show my heart enzymes and if they were elevated i must of had a heart attack. They came back normal, but were concerned about my creatine levels being so high. They ey were worried that i was breaking my muscle down too fast with those levels. They're are two kinds of creatine levels, the normal one and the creatine kinase one which was raised significantly in me. I told them i have been taking creatine for 7 years, which they said might have contributed to it, but i also have been taking anavar (which i didn' ttell them)at 40 mg. a day. They then gave me a urine test and my liver and kidney were great. They diagnosed me with chest wall pain and made an appointment with my family physician to get checked in a couple more days. They also told me to rest, stop taking all supplements, an to take aspirin and ibuprofen. Can anyone please give me ay insight on this. I was really nervous about the whole thing. thanks bros

A little vauge...

Hey Huskers; I am a med. tech and from what I have read I am a little confused. First taking oral creatine monohydrate will not effect your cpk,(creatine phospho kinase), which is an enzye specific for cardiac muscle. Inverted waves are somewhat out of place and a point to ponder but not to be concerned over yet. They can not tell if your kidneys or liver are ok by doing a urine test the are late stage indicators, although accurate. They must have done a basic metabolic profile, ck, (creatine kinase), which will be elevated in serious lifters; my last ck after a hard day at the gym was 1,555, and maybe a troponin.

Drop me a line with a little more info and I'll help you out. There are also other medical professionals on the board, one guy I have a very strong feeling is a Rn and a couple other posts I have read lead me to believe possibly some physicians or P.A.'s. If things shape up to wherre you may have a cardiac deficency, possibly genetic like a murmor, the best advice I can give you would be to see a cardiac doc.

Later for now....

hey bro, first off the ekg is an electrical tracing of your heart, some people have an irregular tracing due to alot of stuff, ami is not diagnosed by 12 lead alone, ck-mb levels cpk levels and the such can be elevated due to stress on the muscles,IE: heavy lifting, fever with chills, etc. they need to do a troponin level along with the cpk-ck-mb and total ck levels for them to accurately diagnose an ami(heart attack) any md in his right mind will not dx ami without all the proper test as mentioned above, the chem panel they probaly did will show alot, sodium, pot, mag levels and so on. creatine(cre-atine levels) if i am not mistaken, show kidney function along with bun levels also for kidneys so it shows alot.
you were probaly dx'd with costachondritis or chest wall pain because they could not find anything to show that you had an AMI. if the problem presist i would have my md rerun the test with a tropin level along with the cpk-ck-mb and total ck levels if you are worried about a heart attack, but these levels of cpk, ck-mb etc can be elevated due to a number of reason.
take the ibuprofen, warm compresses to the area, rest and see if thgey go away. if i were a betting man i would guess that you have a minor strain and thats the root of your problem, if it presist have it checked again, for your safety and peace of mind, later duckster

hope you're okay, bro. i'd tell your reg physician and schedule a couple appts. in the next few weeks so he can monitor you.

i wouldnt worry to much. Alot of time the mind can play games with you, making you think you are much worse off than you are, the more you think of it the worse you get. Are you under more stress than usual? When I encounter more mental stress than normal I get all kinds of weird shit, chest pains, short breath etc.. Ill go to the doc and after a battery of tests I am told that I am above and beyond healthy. It could also be a strain or pull do to heavy lifting. Stay strong, Think Strong.

thanks bros

I appeciate your help bros, it helps a lot, it probably is more mind games than anything, i've been taking ibuprofen and aspirin and the sides have lessened a bit, so hopefully everything continues to get better. Thanks again fellas

Don't worry about the abnormal EKG. Almost everyone is abnormal in some way. And do not worry about Creatine either that is normal for what you are doing. You have to remember, when you have abnormal tests in the ER they have to inform you of the worst case scenario for liability reasons. If they don't and you walk out and Die than they are in a world of shit. Just relax and take it easy for a few days things should take care of themselves. If they don't they see your regular physician to investigate further.
