I know someone who broke his platella (knee) 5 or 6 months ago. he had surgery and is currently unable to work, but he continues to go to the gym. His doctor(s) say he's not even halfway healing yet, but he just loves the gym. He can't bend the knee halfway. He doesn't workout his quads or hams. The thing is, after he works out his knee starts to ache. he hops in the jacuzzi frequently to rid of these aches. he even wakes up with them. my question is, does anyone know any special routines for injuries like this or just injuries below the belt?
P.S. his one quad lost most of his muscle. it's 2/3 the size of the other one.

anyone? i tried to train him, but his knee still felt sore. i considered lowering the weights. improve his endurance rather than strength. anyone else agree?

Almost a YEAR after I broke mine if I bumped into a couch cushion I would cry out in pain.....I could run and work out (with some swelling) but it was very sore to the touch for over a year.

.

yeah, it's called rest.
he can also work the good leg, this will help stop atrophy of the leg not being used, and maintaining strength.
