breathing?

kiosk

New member
having a hard time lately with training hard and keeping up with my breath (no I dont live in high altitude in FL!) I feel myself gasping for air after my sets and I dont think I am breathing right during reps, maybe holding my breath for a few reps to keep form tight.....
Any tips for breathing during training or do I just need to step up the cardio?

typically the big ones like benching or squatting......I feel like I need to keep my air in all the time to keep tight form, if I deflate is hard to get that next rep in

well like Dev said for multiple rep sets youll need to rebreathe at the top..for bench youll wanna keep it in and get really tight so that you can raise your belly to the bar..

for squats you wanna be able to really flex the abs hard to get you out of the hole

Building your stamina can be attained by also moving through your workout quickly on dynamic (not maximal effort) movements/days. Try working though each set with no more than 60sec between. If you are working with a partner - each gets 45-60sec rest. My question would be what type of training are you doing? Bodybuilding, Powerlifting..? Holding breath in your belly and pressing your belly against your belt during lift is one thing, but if you have a stamina problem - that is more of what my reply was focused on. Good luck.
