breathalyzer interlock devices

mylife

New member
apparently because of my DUI i can't get my license back until i have an interlock device installed in my car for 1 year.

is there a way to pay someone off so they'll fax over the certificate saying you've had it installed, but really don't? i can't be driving around with a f'in breathalyzer attached to my steering wheel!

In case your lawyer hasn't spelled it out in small words, your frickin' choices are "i can't be driving around" PERIOD, or spending that year in pound-you-in-the-ass prison.

Can't pay anyone off...sorry! You must do it...better than prison. & they do check that on a daily basis...they can check when u "blow" etc etc.... if u do good for a year u could get your license back... Better than getting it revoked forever!!! So suck it up & get the damn thing already - the sooner the better to get it over with faster!

A friend of mine had one and he had to stop using mouthwash in the mornings before he started his car because it would make him late for work.

But Yes I think you can because you have too..

Consequences for YOUR actions..

i don't 'have' to, i can always just buy the breathalyzer and ride a bike everywhere.

i'd like to think the consequences are a little harsh. i've already spent over 5 grand on lawyers and fines, taken the necessary alcohol classes, served 10 days in jail, etc. etc.

interlock devices are retawded, looks like im gonna have to ante up on a new schwinn.

IF the consequences were so "tough" then why is it that there are people who have multiple DUI's?! Plain & simple...if you want your license back, then just pay the price for a year...it's not that hard to do! Be happy you didn't get it worse!! The DUI laws are constantly changing to make it tougher & MORE expensive!

YOU LIVE YOU LEARN!!! As long as you learn from your mistakes, then move on & quit your bitchin'! LOL *wink...

i've already paid my price! it's been over a year and a half and i've already gone through that other mumbo jumbo!

so if every state had the death penalty for murder you'd think there'd be less murderers? no matter how stiff the penalty is, drunken driving will always be around.

i'm no expert on DUI law, but I believe in most states the standard penalty is <1k in fines plus no more than 24 hours in jail.

i just think it's a lil' overboard for them to assess all this, to a minor no less. either way i plan on purchasing the device and having it installed, but i'll be riding a bike everywhere.

how embarassing to be on a date and have to say, "can you hold on a second while I blow in this hole?"

I understand what you're saying however it's just what you have to do. Know that there's always something worse! I know people who had to be locked up for a couple of months then do community service. The classes (hours) that you do are mandatory everywhere. Just do it & get on with your life...it'll be over in a year & at least you know better now to not drink & drive!

I think you got off easy.....I got one of my buddy killed because of a fucking idiot DUI.....

Those fucking DUI are lethal weapon on the road....be happy that you didnt end up in some PITA prison!

You play you pay....just think you could be sitting in jail with all the others....you should be happy your out

it'll go faster than you think... just suck it up and do it and be glad no one was hurt in your DUI.

I agree w/ the others - there's a REASON why the laws are tough & only continue getting tougher!! Too many people die in DUI related accidents... Thank God no one was hurt & move on....

Not according to the judge, apparently.

I think if I see a drunk driver I should be allowed to run him off the road and call a cop, who will then shoot him, right there in the ditch.

You may hear from other people who have lost loved ones to drunks. They will call you things like "fuckup." This is not a term of endearment.

See above.

A minor. Let me guess... fake ID?

Were you planning to sue the bar for serving you? I was on jury duty for a case like that. (He lost, in case you were wondering.)

YES! Anything that keeps fuckups from reproducing! Embarassment, sterilization, death -- whatever it takes.

man my friend had one of those, he always needed a sober person to blow for him

I'd pay a nickel to be there when the cops pick him up... and take him back to see the same judge who made him get the damn thing in the first place.

He'll get his again... what goes around comes around & worse! With the way he's going it's evident that he'll get another DUI - statistically speaking I believe it's 40% of people w/ DUI's will get another within 2 years...

yea I dont know I havent spoken to him in months but one time i was in his car and talk about pants shittin experience

in that narrow roads there was no car that he didnt miss, not too bad though just got some mirrors
there was nu curb that he didnt hit

and still after that he got drunk to the point where he is blacking out yet he still drives and asks other to come with him

I'm pretty sure he is still alive but I dont know whats up everything else

funny guy though

Not making excuses for the guy... but it is alot easier to live with when you are living in NYC - you do live there, don't you digger?

It wouldn't even be possible to get a DUI if I lived there, who the hell would drive in NYC after drinking. To many other choices...

Hell, no. I push buttons here all day, then get the hell outta Dodge... before the vampires come out.

How long is your commute? Do you drive, train, bus, sub - take a plain, or do you fly in on your Super-Admin cape that GS provided?

congratulations if you've never been behind the wheel after drinking. perhaps you were never young, dumb, and having fun... for some of us it takes a mistake to learn the lesson.

No fake ID. Met a friend who worked at a little club, had some drinks and drove home by myself. Got pulled over and that was that.

what a great admin!! between the jewish gay owner and carousel of Admins who stick around for 2-3 months tops while degrading the members, it's no wonder i don't find it worthwhile to go platinum.

Drinking ans driving is stupid, but I do agree that is a little harsh. What state are u in? Was it your first one? here in MN the penalty for first offense is $750 fine, and 6 months with no liscense.

This breathalyzer seriously sucks.

In the two months I've had it I've incurred the following costs-

$70/month for monthly service charge
$130 for install
$495.00 after having my car broken into and the unit was stolen

On top of all that, the device is calibrated to read a 3-4 second blow followed by a 1-2 second hum. The calibration device is sensitive and needs to be tuned monthly, but from my experience it should be more often.

I've been late for class every day this week because the interlock device failed to register. Imagine how embarassing it is to have your car alarm going off in the middle of a traffic jam on I95 because your breathalyzer is malfunctioning. Cars part like Moses did the Red Sea because they think I'm the police.

On top of all that, the state in which I was convicted of DUI took over a month to clear my suspension through the NDR, even after I faxed all the required documentation. I suppose I deserve that too?
