Breaking an ampule

Curious as to how y'all do this. Do they break cleanly? Do you have to worry about tiny bits of glass breaking into the liquid? I read on one site that the liquid should be filtered before injecting - is this really necessary?

use an amp opener which you can get on all the sites that sell pins and syringes - it scores the amp and gives you leverage to break it off cleanly (most times )

assuming you're injecting tru a 22 ga or smaller (higher ga), the consensus of all the times I've read answers to this question is its unlikely you'd get any glass into the pin to worry about

you can always score around the entire neck of the vial with a nail file(by doing so you should visibly see the white line around the whole neck),and then snap it open by putting it in a wash cloth(so you don't cut your hand)keeping it upright and pushing on the top of the vial until it snaps and breaks.if you're doing more than 4 or 5 vials at a time,it would be a helluva lot easier to buy a amp opener.

dont score on the line

score below it wherre it starts to get wide again......then put the pincap over it and break off the entire to piece.....that way its a hell of alot eisier to get the shit out....

works every time

learned that with jinos
 
thanks bros - good info. is the base where the liquid is stored pretty solid - i.e. no worries about cracking it when busting off the top?

just hold the base tight......score right above where the wide bottom meets the curve....put pin cap over it and pop it off....easy as pie
 
After you break the amp open you can even hold it upside down and it wont come out..Try it..Ill refund you the amp if it does

So please refund me 10 ml of sustonon , i tried it on all of them,LOLOLO.

Might be a stupid question but I've never heard of filtered needles before. Are they supposed to be used then drawing out or can they be used for transfering into a vial perhaps? Just wondering, cuz I had a question on whatman filters. Would love to learn more about them.
 
i use a finger splint to hold the amp--impossible to squeeze and crack it and pen cap to break it--never broke an amp this way.

That is what I do as well.. Quicker and easier. Im an impatient mofo though.
 
If you got the ones with the white or blueish line accors the neck those are cake to open, can use one hand.

I had some without any marks or anything that were a pita . If i use amps again im gona invest in the opener.

Im in the health care field and open amps full of medication everyday. You can hold them upside down and the medication will not come out. Designed that way. I was not trying to be funny and make him waste his gear..Its hard enough to get. And they dotn make 10 ml amps.

Sorry for getting "all out of line", im worse now that im off gear than on...Anyways look them up there are filterned needles. Not for injections but for pulling medications out of amps and so on.
 
just put it between your teeth and bite that bitch top off...then sue the manufacuter for not putting a warning on it that you should not have done so--maybe get a lifetime supply as a settlement

When I was a newb, before having opened any amps before, I followed all the advice out there for "carefully" breaking amps... amp cutters, pen caps, scoring.... what a friggin' pain! For a while, the best advice I followed was to use a paper towel or small hand towel and just snap it open (I guess the worry was that you could get glass in your hand?)... now I just snap them open with my bare hands.... it's so easy and simple, it's not even funny... and I've broken open different types / sizes of amps... I think people fuss too much about this.... but if you're worried, use a towel like I said and you're golden.

So how was that a smart ass comment? I asked a real question, if you have the ability to read it says I never heard of these before and was wondering if since it had a filter if it was possible to use both ways. Not that real hard to answer or that hard to understand it wasn't a smart ass comment.
 
Broke one of my amps earlier this week..ughhh! Was trying to score with a kitchen knife but guess I was applying to much pressure at the amp neck. The thing shattered all over the kitchen (total waste of that amp). Good thing I had it wrapped in a hand towel when I was trying to score it. Anway, just reading through the posts here and guess I'll just be more careful going forward not to apply so much pressure when trying to score it. Was going to buy one of those 'amp openers' but after reading the information here seems like it's not really needed. Just need to get a better feel for how to open them. Will try the pin cap technique next time (sounds pretty good).
