have you ever actually read the story of achilles? He wasn't some disaffected, nonplussed, pretty boy stoner.......which is how Pitt carried himself. Completely not beleivable.....yummy or not...

Could we someday maybe hold actors and actresses to higher standards than whether they looked "yummy"??? Most actresses won't walk out of their house unless they've had a two hour makeup session with a professional. The men are no better.......for the role of Achilles, I expected a bad ass....not a jock

funny thing about troy...i wouldn't say it was a very good movie, on its merits (dialogue, acting, etc), but at the same time, i've flipped through movie channels and stopped to watch it many times because of the story and the ideas contained therein.

brad pitt, agreed (obviously), was not good. his delivery was almost a joke at times, and the dialogue in general wasn't that great. although "small" compared to a bodybuilder, wasn't he bigger in troy than he's ever been in a film?

eric bana (hector) was definitely better, and he's a good actor in general. but still, nothing riveting imo. peter o'toole (priam, king of troy) was cool, but then, he's a legend among legends. brian cox was aight. eh.

i like rambling on about shit i've probably said before, on redundant juicer threads no less.

Erica Bana is a good actor for sure. I've enjoyed most of his films. Even the Hulk was enjoyable because of his acting. I find it sad his good performance in Troy was overshadowed at the time by Brad Pitt.

My wife is from Thessaloniki and is very into her culture. I've had to hear a million times how horrible Brad Pitt was in that role, lol. Although, she loved Alexander. Every critic said Angelina Jolie did a horrible job with her accnet, although my wife says it was spot on. Yet nobody notices that Colin Ferrel had his irish accent the whole time, go figure

Yeah, he is small compared to a bodybuilder, but he just looked 'bloated'. Not fat in any sense of the word, but compared to the very ripped up condition he was in while filming Snatch and Fight Club, his condition in Troy wasn't so great. If you aren't very big (and this is true even in bodybuilding shows), it's better to be in excellent condition and dry, than being bigger but more bloated/soft.

get the book "gates of fire". I'll go see the "300" just because it looks like a decent sword fest......but don't think this is any accurate description of sparta. This movie looks more like lord of the rings......I mean, the persians attacking with ogres and rhino's?? C'mon.....this is fairytale shit. Spartans leaping 20 ft in the air and shit.......uh uh. They'd better do the phalanx justice in this movie.......cause that's how the spartans won so much. They were the most compact fighting unit in the history of humankind. Just to give you an idea of how they trained.......they'd have kids line up, 2 wide, maybe 2-3 deep......they'd line up that away against a HUGE tree......than they'd all push, rugby style almost....into the tree. They would NOT be allowed to stop......they'd have to do this for 24 hours PLUS!! Sometimes 48-72 FUCKING HOURS!! This is insane.......after that amount of time up churning against a tree they would unearth the tree......down to the ROOTS!! That's SICK! That was a different genetic breed.
