For the length of time it took the white kid in telegraphing his punch, the black guy could've went home, made a sandwich, and came back in time to throw his counter. It seems like a lot of people feel that way: despite no training whatsoever or actual fighting experience, they believe that they will kick ass on anyone if they ever have to fight.
