Does anybody have this? If so, is it as effective as they said it is? Is it as challenging as working out in a gym?

personally i dont like any of those "all-in-one" home gyms. they cant compete with working out with free weights. the only way they're usefull is if you dont have time to get a full workout at the gym you could get a quick one done at home.

Home gyms are good for just that..at home. Personally I have a bowflex at home for the days I cant make it to the gym; and working 12 hour shifts there are those days. What I like about the bowflex..gives a decent workout for whatever muscle group. (its important to say a decent..maybe not the best or as good as free weight but decent), it is also compact, not noisy, and doesn't have loose weights everywhere (which is important to me as I have children who seemed to love playing with my free weights when I had them. What I didn't like about bowflex...Price.
As Far as easier or harder than free weights or which has a more challenging workout.....Its all about intensity baby...whether lifting iron or a bag of potatoes.

ive been told that any "bow" type machine is no good cuz if one bow goes, they all go.....then you have to have the whole machine re-calibrated. go to the gym!!!!!!!

I have the bowflex XTL. It was the deluxe model till this one came out. I like it up to a point. I feel I get a really good workout with it but find myself still going to ymca for their free weights and hammer strength and nautilus. If you cant get the gym into youre routine, then this is IMHO the next best thing. Yes the price is to high.

Regarding price. You can get one used on ebay as I did and save a few bucks. But even there they can get close to regular retail because some are willing to pay that to get it faster.
I'm pretty happy with mine, but would like to know if anyone has found a better way to do the straight forward crunches. Using the arm to support the resistance is not my favorite way to do that.
