Bowflex and Crossbow do they work?

My buddy has a bowflex...the resistance can go heavy and it is alsways on liek cables but when you go heavy the motion gets really jerky and it is not smooth at all which i believe will lead o some kind of muscle or tendon strain. For someone looking to stay in decent shape and not build I think it works great.

so what if i'm trying to cut some fat and try and get shredded by using moderate weight at high reps first and then try and bulk or should i do it the other way around

i think they suck. i first bought one and they are really jerky. it like slingshots back with the resistance. some people like it i guess. free weights are the best.

It could serve the purpose...it is easy to change excercises and really easy to do drop sets so as long as your not trying to bulk up then it could work for you.

if you don't want to join a gym, then I would recommend the bowflex. Had one for a couple of years and my girlfreind got great shape using it.

my girlfriend uses bowflex and her chest development has been extraordinary-look at my avatar

And a good diet. Losing fat and/or gaining muscle is going to really depend on what you are eating.

I think you'll be better off spending the few hundred bucks on a set of dumbbells (a whole set, not just a couple), a 4-6ft bar, some weight plates, and a couple benches. Don't even have to be new....try resell stores (i.e., Play it Again Sports) and even the Classified Ads.

I own a bowflex which cost $1200 I havent started to replace the free weights in the gym with it but i can tell you what i learned from some early stage trials recently. 1. for me it is easier on the joints rather than harder (someone mentioned this). 2. they resistance is somewhat jerky, in other words, because the bows provide resitance you may not feel an equal amount of tension as you slowly lower the weight.... at some point (probably 75% down) it becomes either extremely easy to lower it (biceps) or very very hard (legs press). It can be so hard that you almost slam back into starting positions.
Like radar said.... nothing replaces free weights.

Hope this helps.

The crossbow cominbed with the bowflew have made tygger88 the machine that he is today...

oh and thats another thing.... the crossbow dont compare to the bowflex because the resistance bars are placed horizontal rather than verticle like on the bowflex. because of this they tend to "snap off" of the crossbow rather easily.

BRO just join the gym bro there's nothing like the going to the gym, there's a lot of bad ass girls that would keep you motivated. :p

There's probably a very good reason ya find bowflex's quite readily available in the classifieds.

I'm with everyone else,...hit the gym!!
