I know this can be a contraversial topic.. but being a young woman ( fairly vain..lol) I am curious about this.

My mother has gotten it, as well as my grandmother. Friends I have who are in theyre early 30's.. and they all swear by it..on top of that, they look fantastic.

Does anyone have anything, opinions, experiences that they can share with me on this procedure?

I know how crazy this may sound to certain people, as I am a younger, though 26 doesnt seem young to me.. lol

I've formed deep wrinkles on my forehead & caught sign of the first eye wrinkle!!

I've heard botox can prevent further future wrinkles as well as rid the ones already present..?????

You want BOTOX at 26?????
I'm vein as well, but I bet you don't need it.
Botox lasts only 3-5 months; It's very pricey since you have to keep doing it. As far as doing it for wrinkles, look at Nicole kidman; she's frozen looking.
Botox does not prevent wrinkles from coming back. What you might have is frown lines on your forehead. I always had those since I was very young and they never go away. Are they between the eyes? In that case you can get botox for that. Hopefully the price is better in Canada then it is in NY. Here is $600 per area. So figure $600 every 3-4 months. I do get Botox in my forehead between the eyes for that, but I'd never do it gor wrinkles. It looks very unatural..

That's cute. I used to think I was old at 25 as well.

i have heard about botox, iam 30 now, i do have some linings coming below my eyes. i was thinking it was pretty normal...never thought of going for botox, actually i dont know much about botox, can somebody tell me about the procedure and the cost involvement in it? also is the procedure painful?

The cost may vary according to where you live. Botox is a series of injection on the area you want 'frozen'. it hurst slightly, but is very quick.

Wow. Thanks so much ladies for all your words of wisdom. It runs about $350 per area here, though I do have the $ for it, I know that the end result amount will be pretty steep, as you have to get it done time & time again.
Are there any products you can recommend ( ie. creams) that can take the appearence away, even short term? I hear that FREEZE 24/7 makes a good creme..but it is also pricey.

I know I probably dont NEED it- I am just curious about it now.
Than- so these lovely wrinkles on my forehead I have had forever too.. they are just starting to irritate the F outta me.. lol. and the one long one under my eye.. I know I know, Im being shallow.. :)

I've had the frown lines from a young age and it began to irritate the F out me about 8 years ago. I tent to frown from the sun, but then I kept frowning from anything. A Dr said to me "Just stop frowning". Easier said then done.
I don't know any other product to resolve this. It's the only thing I tried. I love the fact I get a smooooth forehead, but its very pricey. I'm lucky I don't have wrinkles, or I'd be in big trouble.
I doubt any cream would do the same job.

It's ok to be vain. That's not shallow..lol

You may want to talk to your doctor about Restylane. All of the dermatologists I've seen and my recent plastic surgeon recommends this over Botox. It lasts about 6 months and is composed of hyaluronic acid (a natural substance in your skin already). Not sure it is available in Canada but worth the research. Here is a link to get you started:

Restylane® USA

I have a funny story to tell. When I was 25 I went to a well known women's derm in DC to have some sun spots checked. That is all I wanted. I ended up walking out with a quote for $6200 in services that she thought were necessary. Uneven lips, laugh lines, skin discoloration etc.. She made me feel like I was 5x my age. I tore up the quote as I walked out the door. Witch.

I don't have wrinkles yet, just laugh lines that creams actually work fine for now. I'm sure though in the coming years I will invest in Restylane. I have two sun spots on my face (one smack dab in the middle of my forehead) but they add to who I am. I'm leaving them alone for now.

Consider all this...simply taking good care of yourself.

Wow. Yeah, I actually thought about this a little more throughly. @ 26, even @ 27 I won't be in need of these kind of procedures. I am taking very good care of my skin- ( though I am having a bit of adult acne on my chin..:( lately)So I am more focused on finding a skin care line that will fix that first..lol

I'll stick to the creams & staying hydrated & using SPF. Thanks for all of the info. you ladies are the best!

OMG Ironwings - that ad was notsogood! The three models in the ad didn't look anywhere near old enough to use such products. Yea, you could argue that the stuff works. But no... they have no lines in their necks (most likely air-brushed out) and other tell-tale signs of age but what I am saying is that those models are waaaaaay too young to be pimping such a product, sorta like a 20 year old pimping age-defying cream to a woman who is 40 something.

Restylane and botox are not used interchangably. Botox temporarily paralyzes the muscles under the skin causing the skin to smooth out because you can't move it. Restylane is ONLY a *filler* and from what I understand (though I could be misinformed) is not used in the forehead or for crow's feet. It is used for laugh lines and your lips.

I had both botox and restylane several weeks back. (I had botox and collagen 6 years or so ago when I was still modeling). I LOVED the restylane in my laugh lines but HATE IT in my lips. It cause severe bruising in my lips and I didn't get the crisp line that I wanted. Not to mention that I can feel it in my lips and I don't like that. So I most likely will not use it in my lips again. I need such a small amount that one syringe is enough for both upper and lower lip and my laugh lines (naso-labial fold). I will most likely get something temporary again until I can find a more permanent solution.

The doc is very good. I look TOTALLY natural, like me, just "rejuvinated" but for the monetary investment at my age it is worth it to spend a couple more dollars (a lot more LOL) in one shot and have it last for 10 years than to drop coule grand 3/4 times a year for temporary result.

^^^That is 100% correct^^^
Restylane is a filler. Botox is the only product that paralyses the area. They came out with another product, which claims to have the same benefit, but lasts longer, however it never took off or it was not approved.

LG, a skincare line will not fix acne or wrinkles. The only thing a 'cream' can do is moiturize or take spots away. Everything else you have to take care of it from the inside. Your acne could be hormonal or too much fat, which I believe you're not doing.
in order to have smooth beautiful skin you need to eat properly (you're doing)No sugar, alcohol or cigarets. I sould say minimum sugar, lol.
drink lots of water (you're good)
exfoliate twice a week. Including body.
Use very good products.
Clean your face twice a day.
Use sunblock 365 days a year; even if you're indoors.
Always use moisturizer, sunblock, eye cream and primer if you wear make-up.
I'll come back when I think of more..

I am definately doing all those things Than- you know it!!
The sugar-yes, I need to lay off. I think what is a big factor for me is where I work.
I work at an oil plant, so the air is..well, polluted to put lightly.- I think thats where the acne is coming from.. clogged pores :(
Can you recommend a good skin care line?

I know you'r doing all those things. Sugar, WE all have to put the breaks on; not just you. My sugar sinning is not so bad, but it's still there nonetheless.

If you work in a poluted enviroment, then you might have to be extra careful of keeking your skin clean. Once you get home, wash immediately. However, always moisturize or will over dry.

Skin care:
Darphin (They give lots of samples)
Cle De Peau (lots of samples
SK-II (unfortunately, no samples)Good foundation.

These are very good products. I suggest to get a moisturizer and a cleanser, then the rest samples. Because they are pricey.

If you have a hard time getting these, let me know and I'll give you others.

yes it works wonders, my wife is in aesthetic medicine and has been so for 10 years, botox, fillers, lasers, peels and the whole lot. yes it works like nothing else, and we are in hawaii right now, she has a practice here, we come twice a year

the real cost of botox is $500 a bottle, that is what all docs pay, depending on shipping and a price break for multiple bottles, in that bottle you will get approximately 100 units after being mixed with solution, so the bottle will yield $500 cost, now the doc will usually charge any where from $10 A UNIT TO $20 depending on what people are willing to pay, my wife charges $10, she prefers to offer a better cost and have a return clientele that is happy. we know plenty of docs who prefer to charge more but have fewer patients.

wow- there really is alot to cosmetic changes. I did a LOT of research & have concluded that I will be shy to botox for about another 3 years. I am keeping a close eye on my skin & wrinkles.

Off topic of botox, Ive got 3 months to go till my B.A!! Booked my hotel room & hopefully the hubby & the pups can behave themselves as they INSIST on tagging along... lol

Thanks for all the info!
