I am very interested in starting "Shadows Project". I had a couple of questions (but...of course!) I am sooooooooooo out of shape its sickening! I have totally let myself go. I've gained 80 pounds in the last few years. I never had a weight problem. I was always pretty thin. I am 5'6 and usually weigh around 140 pounds. I used to LOVE working out. I ran in the morning and did weights. Never achieved the muscle that I wanted but atleast I was lean :) Now, Im a fat slob. I have become what I used to frown upon. At my age (35) I guess I just felt like it wasnt worth the effort to get myself back into shape. I mean, I've been married for 17 years and so I figured this is as good as it gets.....just give up. Ya, know what though...........I DONT want to give up. This isnt me, its not my body, its so depressing. I want more, I want my body & confidence back. Its just so hard to try to lose all this weight. I have lost 10 pounds then started thinking..........well, still 70 to go and got so depressed about it that I put the 10 back on plus another 10! How unhealthy is that. Now, its the middle of April and I am going to spend yet another summer fat and outta shape. I know I can make positive changes, I know I love to work out, I know I can eat clean.....what I do need though is some support. Its going to be very hard to give it all I have and not really see results for awhile but I need to get healthy. So, I am going for shadows routine of working out and eating clean and Im not going to stray from it. I am petrified! Scared that I will fail before I even begin but I will start and I will win this once and for all. I am sooo sorry for the rambling but have to admit it feels good to write this all down. On to a couple of questions:
1. Is there a particular protein that I should use? On hand I have: Myoplex light and syntrax (vanilla essence and the nectar ones).
2. As of now, the only fat burner that I have is Lipo-6. Brand new bottle so should I start with these?
3. Do I need to make any training changes due to my weight? I am 5'6 and weigh 230. Oh Lord.......cant believe I admitted that!
4. At my weight should I still use the creatine in my protein shake?
last question: Can I start my own thread with this journey. I would like a place to put my thoughts, concerns and training/dieting log? Im fairly new here although I have been reading this forum forever. I just dont wanna piss any one off.
Thanks so much for those who read my ramblings. Thanks to shadow for putting together a program that just might bring me back from this depression!

Re: Shadows project

welcome chica! You will find that love again & be very happy w/ yourself on so many levels!

One cool thing about this board is that its a safe place to let it all hang out. Sometimes we just need an outlet to voice the stuff that we load up on ourselves and holds us back.

Nothing but info, support and lots of U Go Girl Here!

Re: Shadows project

ok, call me gay..lol but my eyes actually filled up when I saw these replys. I wasnt expecting it. Thanks so much for taking the time to drop me a line. In this stage of the game it means a lot more than you could imagine! Well, I just got home from the grocery store. Picked up chicken, baby spinach, mushrooms (im assuming I can add these to my salad?)(suppose I shouldnt assume things :) ) SF,FF salsa to put on the chicken at dinner to get me through the first few days, some nuts. I had the rest at home already so I think Im good to go. I am starting tomorrow so today will be a free for all. Not sure why, its a mental thing  Workouts will be alittle tough since they will be done at home using free weights and a flat bench. Way too embarrassed to lift at the gym right now. I know that I shouldnt care what others think but I do. Im going to print out Shadows plan now and take my measurements. Keeping all the info in a binder. Gonna log my daily meals, workouts ect.. each and every day even if I eat S*it! Im really excited about this. I feel like having a journal here will keep me on track. Thanks for the kind words of encouragment.
Bunny***You my dear, are an inspiration! I spent most of this morning looking through your pics, story ect.... You ROCK!

Re: Shadows project

Im living proof the S project works :) You DO know that's how I got started, riiiiiiight? Youll do great... the ladies here , and S are amazing and VERY helpful. I owe alot of where I am today to them. Happy logging!

Re: Shadows project

Bunny, I didnt know for sure if you followed Shadows plan! That's so cool. You look amazing.

Will2belean~ Cool.......lets do this! When did you start?

Im going to start a new thread: Boston's Journal...... tomorrow :)

Re: Shadows project

I started two weeks ago, but I started with the original plan in the long log. I'm now up to the workouts in the downloadable files. :)

Re: Shadows project

Is it possible to copy this thread under a new title. I want to start my journal thread but would like to start with these posts. Hope my question makes sense.

Voila !

My plan for tomorrow:

wake up:6:30-7am, take fat burner w/a few sips of crystal light

8am: gym for cardio (HIIT) training on the treadmill

Meal 1: Myoplex light shake w/water and creatine (take vitamins)
8 oz. coffee w/FF milk & 2 splenda
**Is it ok to mix the protein shake with water so that I can save the FF milk for my coffee?

Meal 2: 1-1.5 oz. nuts, water

Meal 3: salad of: baby spinach leaves, couple of raw mushrooms, 4 sliced strawberries, 3 oz. turkey breast (cant do tuna on salad), couple of crackers (opps...forgot to buy some)(maybe some melba rounds??) water to drink

Meal 4: 6 oz. chicken w/hotsauce, small sweet potatoe, roasted asparagus w/garlic. water to drink

Weights: hmmm, since Im not lifting at the gym I am somewhat limited. I was thinking about: lunges, squats & deadlifts 3-4 sets of each for 10reps.

Meal 5: Syntrax Protein w/water & creatine

Does this look ok?

I actually should ask about some changes in the training portion since I am working out at home. I have dumbells and a bench.

Tues is back: I can do upright rows but have a mental block about another exercise??

Wed is chest: I can bench press (flat and incline) anything else??

Thur is shoulders: This used to be my all time favorite thing to train!! No problems this day, I can follow Shadows plan w/out changes.

Fri is arms: I can do the incline curls, preacher curls (no cable curls) maybe just add a regular old fashion DB curl??

For Tri's its a little tricky: I can do kickbacks and overhead presses....is there something else??

What is the Glucorell-R for? Sorry for so many questions...just pumped up for tomorrow and I wanna be a good newbie and do it right!

Ilk~ Thanks for the link. I spent much of this morning looking at bunny's transformation! She looks great! She is a big inspiration and the final straw to me getting my big arse in gear :)

Ilk~ I cant wait to be able to post some pics. Not now though lol. Maybe as I move along in this journey,I will get brave and post some. My pics now are awful but the ones from 3years ago are good...........does that even count..lmao!

Awwwwwwwww..............Shadow, you cutie pie! (and I havent even seen his face...lol, oh well.....girls will be girls :p So Ilk, is that you in his avi? I ask because I love that color lipstick and I want it :)

Shadow or other vets if you read this and you have time can you comment on my post above about the workouts?

ok, now for some ramblings to myself:
I am so pumped up right now. I cant wait for tomorrow to start this thing. Im hoping that since I only gained weight a couple years back that It might be alittle easier to lose. Yeah, wishful thinking but whatever! I dug out my pics from then and put them on my fridge, in my car, near my bed....lol, just a reminder of what Im working towards. Just had pizza for dinner......... yes, the famous "Last Supper". Thats it though, tomorrow is the day and I wont postpone it. Dang, cant believe I have to start off with legs :worried: Not even sure if I can do a lunge anymore. ok, off to make my salad and pack my nuts for work tomorrow.

Hi there,
I have your plan all printed out, trust me. I only had some questions because I am lifting at home for now so dont have access to cables & machines. I was looking for any alternatives to those exercises or if I should just do an extra set of the others. hmmm, hope that made sense :)

Oooouu!!!! Yeah!!!

POST UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, today was/is day 1:

I didnt sleep well last night, just to excited about today. Woke up to a lovely post by Ilk! What a doll :)

7:15am: Took 2 lipo6 w/a full glass of water
8am: Hit the gym for cardio- Rode the bike for 30mins doing intervals. I think thats the same as HIT training. Rode at a comfy pace followed by fast riding at an increased level.

Meal 1: Myoplex light w/water, creatine. (left for work & grabbed a sm. NF latte on the way)
Meal 2: 1oz. nuts (saved the other 1/2 ounce for my salad)
Meal 3: 3 cups baby spinach w/3 sliced strawberries, 3 oz. turkey breast, 2 sliced mushrooms, 1/2 oz. nuts and 4TB. light walnut raspberry vinegarette dressing. (too much dressing, tomorrow will reduce to 3 tb then the next day 2 tb.)
Heading home for leg training:
LEGS:
Squats: 3 sets 12 reps (body weight only)
Deadlifts: 3 sets 12 reps (using 10lb. DB's)
Lunges: 3 sets 12 reps (body weight only)

Meal 4: Syntrax (very cherry) protein w/8 oz. water
Meal 5: will be lean steak, roasted artichoke hearts and a small yam
will take a multi with dinner. Have to order the Gluc-r today.

I am so proud of myself for doing this! Hell, who knew this gal could still do a lunge! Im invisioning tomorrow will bring pain but a good pain :)
Will admit that its not the same working weights at home vs the gym but for now Im just not comfortable doing it at the gym.

I also feel like I should be doing more cardio since I have weight to lose but maybe thats just old-school thinking??
I felt like a child all day....lol, I couldnt wait to get on here to post this stuff but work was crazy busy and I didnt get a chance.
So all in all it was a productive day! I think I did pretty good. Please to those reading feel free to comment.
*had to edit to add the NF latte :)

I hope so because I really would like to do an hour of cardio in the mornings. I want to follow Shadow's plan as tight as possible though :)
My legs are already feeling tight when I go up the stairs........that shows ya how outta shape I am :worried:

Way to go BOSTON!!!!

I will tell you this, I think I was so loyal to S's plan if he yelled SIT from *insert state he lives in* I would have SAT at moments notice all the way here in Illinois. I do have a point, that i think you need to, if you can, get IN the gym... being in the gym works wonders for motivating you... do NOT be afraid... seriously... you just tune others out b/c you are there ultimately for you and nothing an IPOD & hat cannot fix to break any eye contact & unnecessary conversation.

Im not saying it's not possible to do without a gym, but you want to get the most out of what he has set up, and HAVE it as a possibility... GET to a gym ... it will only help you.

RE the dressing, you can throw some water in there and shake it up to dilute it a bit to give you more... the berries flavor the spinach enough you can ease up on the dressing. :)

Make me proud and get this thing rockin'...

{{Bunny}},
Your post made so much sense on different levels. I know I should lift at the gym. Im just soooo self-concious (sp??) right now. Today while doing legs, I was thinking about how much better it would be at the gym. I really think that if I was heavy my whole life and then embarking on this transformation, it would be different. Since, I only gained this weight in the last few years.....it just seems harder to me. I just feel like everyone is looking at me and thinking....what the hell happened to her! Im sure they say that and I know it shouldnt bother me but it does. Im going to really have to dig deep to lift at the gym. Hmmm.......something for me to think about.

Yeah, I used way too much dressing today. Tomorrow I'll drop to 2tb w/alittle water mixed in.

Thanks for stopping in girly

Well, Day 1 is officially done :rainbow:
Feeling great, motivated, proud ect...

Just did my totals on fitday and WOW....... I was not expecting it to be so high.
Cals:1632 Fat:68 Carb:144 Pro:130

Dropping down on the dressing tomorrow and having chicken w/dinner instead of beef! That should help alittle.
Already feeling sore, but liking it :p

Note to self: Think, Think, Think....about Bunny's advice. Gotta lift at the gym, gotta do it....just do it. Hmmm...probably wont sleep well again tonight :)

Boston.... ^^^^ Great advice there...

I don't think you should worry about that at all.... Whats more important your GOAL, Or what people are saying.... I'm sure no one has said a word about you, You just assume that... Which is normal, I think we've all been there...

Once you go there and have a great workout, You'll be like... "Why the hell was I afraid to go"

HAVE A GREAT WORKOUT AND DON'T FORGET YR CRACKERS....

Ramblings:
I think one trait about myself is that I NEED "instant gratification". This plays over in all aspects of my life. For me....... I "WANT" equals I "GET". It's an awful trait, I will admit but none the less.... I have it bigtime. I was bored with my job and wanted a change in pace, so I quit (w/out having something else lined up and looked for something else), I wanted a new car so I went to the dealer, traded mine in and updated, Im tired and wanted a vaca....called the travel agent. I have NEVER in my life saved up for anything, discussed major things before acting on it ect..... I guess that makes me selfish too :worried:
Ok, my point is that I only started this journey back to my former self on tuesday but Im working my tail off and Im still overweight and horrified at what I let happen to myself. This is where the "instant gratification" thing plays in....... I want my body back and I want it ***NOW***!! I am women........ hear me roar.......... **NOW**. Oh boy, this is gonna take time but Im not used to waiting for anything. This is not in my control and I will admit that I hate it and it sucks. Im gonna have to come to terms with working out and not seeing results in the mirror or on the scale for awhile.
So, all in all having a somewhat depressing day realizing that this is not going to come easy.
Rambling done :rainbow:

Hey girl!!!
Newmans light raspberry walnut vinegarette dressing..
how is that?!?!?!

Do this if you'd like, get the Kashi crackers, you get about 2-3 x more per serving than 7 or 8 wheatables, wheat thins... :) They are better for you and you get more of them... if you want to change it up a bit down the road... if now, ignore me ;)

Bostongirl I love your post and am in the same boat over the last 2 year I put on a lot of weight and have recently begun to try to take it off . I am trying to eat better and breakfast absolutely makes me gag. No quick fixes this time around. I was put on this diet by a guy who runs a bodyfit diet at the gym. He did my BF and measurements. He gave me some good recipes which I will post. He also tells me only do between 20- 30 minutes of cardio a day with my heartrate at 137 or up for the whole time- no warm up or cool down. Feel free to pm me. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Feeling really great! So sore, cant even explain how tired & sore I am.

Good luck, Boston! I think everyone who has gained, and not really realized what they have become, and then tries to lose feels the same way..there were days I was like, if I had money I would get LIPO IMMEDIATELY!!! And seriously cry myself to sleep and never want anyone to see me ever again..but if you keep plugging away, one day leads to a week, then a month and on and soon you do see results...I am a big "instant gratification" girl too..It will happen..I am proud of you for the courage to start a log and to change yourself...for the healthier..It will happen.. :rainbow:

WARNING.........TOTAL BITCH RANT TO FOLLOW:

Im doing every workout and following this diet but not seeing much results yet. I do feel stronger and over-all I feel better and my pants are looser **BUT** Im so freakin bummed out. I cant believe I let myself gain 80pounds for no F'kn reason! After I had my kids, I did weight watchers and cardio until 20 pounds above my ideal weight then I started lifting and changed around my diet. I just feel like Im eating too protein and not doing enough cardio and hell, I just dont see an end in sight! I fully blame myself for the condition of my body now but waaaaaahhhhhhh......another chubby summer......Damn!! Everything just sucks right now, my job, my hubby, my body, my mood....dang, Im such a cry baby! Im starving right now and I dont have any meals left. Boston-
Glad to see you recognized the pmsing and are back to being positive--that is huge not to give in and self-distruct. I have done this many many times..I am proud of you..Let me tell you, one thing you said hit home for me in one of your posts--not being overweight all your life and having to come to terms with the added weight-- I was like SHE IS READING MY MIND..I feel ya.. All my life skinny, cheerleading/gymnastics..started the gym in high school, then moved on to figure training-very lean and cut--had some personal probs and a change of lifestyle/job and I was 20lbs heavier and hating myself--the number is not important, it is the sentiment that I can relate that matters...You are doing great and as long as you just focus on the day at hand, you will make it..
Side note: how do you like the redline caps?? I used to use the RTD and loved it..why no more lipo-6--didn't work for you??

Hey there Muneca..... Its nice to know someone else is feeling what Im feeling....... so im really NOT crazy! I dont know if it sounds mean or shallow but its so different when you are athletic your whole life than bam....shit happens and you put on the pounds. For me it was 80-90 in like 2years. Again, I will be shallow here (sorry) but its so weird to always have attention and then become invisible. There are enough beauties on this board so I dont really feel funny saying that :) My weight gain started with an illness and having to take meds that packed on the pounds **BUT** I did give up and eat like crap so Im too blame too! I just honestly believe that its much easier to have been heavy as a child into adulthood than to be slim/in shape to outta shape. Its like heavy people that have always been heavy dont really know anything different. I know what its like to be in shape and I know how im feeling now. Ok.......... sorry, I ramble. I love to talk :rainbow:
I switched to the redlines because I wasnt feeling anything on the lipo 6. No energy boost at all. The redlines I really like so far. They give me energy w/out the crash as it wears off. Only thing is that it says it should be taken w/food so you dont get nauseas. I take it with a few sips of crystal light and I have been fine.

Never stop patting yourself on the back ... :)

:qt: :qt: :qt: AGREED! (as to everything you said) Including, I love to talk too--don't ever get me started...Yeah, I too took redlines, on an empty stomach first thing, after my DD coffee in the car on way to gym--am I Nuts or what-- and managed just fine! Love that energy..I would like do the stepmill over an hour on that..You are not being vain, you are reacting to what personally YOU have experienced and how YOU feel affected. Totally normal (and, I second all of that)! So there, one more crazy person to join ya!!!...I am so bad, I complain about 20lbs and there are people trying to lose hundreds..the battle is what is shared and the feelings, right? We empathize with each other! Keep your head up and feet moving forward (into the gym...:) you will get there!

Sat: No workouts went to Jersey

Stayed faithfull to my diet on saturday and sat. night but had my cheat meal on sunday. Hit Pepe's pizza in CT on the way home........OMG.....so dang good! Had 3 slices of spinach and 1 little slice of pepperoni :p
