Bone size and muscle size, any relation?

I heard that the bigger your bones are the bigger your muscles get, is that true?

Also out of curiosity, take a tape and measure the size of your wrist, in inches. Is 7 inch wrist bone SMALL? Or it is OK size?

Mine are about 6" (i'm female, 5' 7"). I always considered myself small-boned. I know most people have wrists thicker than mine.

All I know for sure is that since muscles attach to the bones, bigger bones means room for bigger attachment sites. There probably isn't an exact correlation, but probably a tendency.
 
If you do a search in the archives there's some stuff in there about the size of your wrists pre-determining the potential MAXIMUM size of your arms

Basically it says that you are genetically restricted to a maximum growth of 10 inches ontop of the size of your wrist, so if youve got 7" wrists, 17" is the theoretical genetical ceiling in terms of arm growth (bis/tris).

Ive got 7.5" wrists

I'd be more than happy with 17.5" arms. Do a search.

In the meantime I found this in the archives, STEELHEART posted it in FEBRUARY on the CHAT BOARD and I thought it was a pretty interesting theory, check it out:

bodybuilders may have to adjust measurements in the area of hips, waist,

* Measure yourself every three months.
* Check in the mirror to make sure that your muscles are defined.
* Also check to make sure your muscles have fullness, depth and

* Build proportionate strength and size.

Ok according to that chart I'm all messed up. My chest - at 50" is ok, but that makes my arms almost 3" too big and my thighs almost 2" too big. My waist is too big, although not far off and my calves are an 1" too big. This is taken from the bottom row.....
 
Small bone structure doesn't help anything. My wrist is about 6 1/2" and I have a very small structure overall. However, as you add size and develop good definition, people will think you are a lot bigger than you actually are. People have guessed my bodyweight to be 10 to 25 lbs higher than it actually is. I always find that to be a helluva compliment.

AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT !!!!

a few years past and I added a lot of muscle, lost some fat, and now people are always sayin' "DUDE YOU'RE HUGE".....I'm not.....it's just a good illusion. with no comparison (HUGE dude next to me) I look BIG!

I kind of like havin small bones......ya get that Frank Zane thing going......don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to be ENORMOUS!! but since I never will be.....I look on the bright side!

Yeah people say you look huge, but what about to yourself?

When you see yourself in the mirror what do you think?

in some mirrors I look thin, other mirrors I look fat, but I'm always the same, shit my arms are thin, they havent changed at all, I need to get another inch on them, damn my chest needs another 2 inches, my shoulders need more width, but when I compare it to a picture I took 3 months ago, now theres the difference.

Have you ever been somewhere social, like a pub or shop or whatever, and you catch yourself in a mirror standing next to someone "normal"?

I did and I thought, shit me man, I'm huge compared to them. Then you feel all self-concious coz your not used to it, heheheh.
 
I think I have seen this chart before in a book...

I think it was called "Building the olympic physique the natural way" or something like that....

I'm pretty sure the chart refers to ideal body-proportions ofr natural bodybuilders.
