has anyone used this before? im gonna use it to attach my hood scoop. any one have any tips?

You mean you are going to attach your hood scoop with rivets, or weld, and then smooth bondo over the lip and paint it so it looks factory right?

Only use as much bondo as you have to. It is a good idea(like JuiceMoose said) to make sure that the scoop itself is securely attached FIRST via welding or screws or something. Bondo is nice because you can sand and shape it and redo it if you don't like how it came out or if you made a mistake. Will you be painting this too or are you having a body shop paint it for you?

use as little as possible,read teh damn insturctions and make sure it doesnt look like shit,im customing my honda out and im using soem bondo to shape it the way i plan,hope it turns out for ya man

Yeah what they said . . . don't put it on to thick. It's a bitch to sand down and could crack easy.

Depending on the heat and humidity, that shit will harden pretty fast, so only mix up as much at one time as you can spread on in a few minutes.

what tool should i use to spread it out?

go to a parts plus and get a putty knife/spreader. It looks like a big, wide plastic chisle. It will let you spread it on. Once you have the general shape, then you can sand it down to your liking.

after its sanded will it be smooth like metal? and can i just hand sand it?

it sounds like you really dont have any clue as to what is going on with body work...bondo is easy to use but if you dont know what you are doing it can turn into a nitemare...if you mix in too much hardner it will dry too fast and if you dont mix in enough it wont dry fast enough...if you put it on too think it can crack, if you put it on too thick it can crack...
you spread it on with a puddy knife (or a plastic spreader, can be had at any paint house)...you need to sand it well and make sure that it blends into the paint on the body (meaning you cant feel any lines 'cause if you feel lines then you will see lines after painted)...
if it sounds like you are going in over your head then take it to a shop and spend the bucks and have it done right.

You should hit it with a da first, to knock down the big ridges, then switch to a finer grit for hand sanding.

The main thing to watch for when sanding is for any scratches that may have been made by your putty applicator, if you aren't careful the edges will dig in and leave a scratch that you will have to fill in, you do not want to try and sand it out, you will end up with a low spot there.

Yes, when you are done it will be smooth and hard like metal, then prime and paint.

so i primer just the bondo and the fiberglass scoop, and then paint it? what about the area surrouding the bondo?

You have to sand the whole area surrounding the scoop. It is really hard to spot match paint. To get the color right you really have to sand and paint the whole part(ex. fender, hood, door) Who is going to be painting this for you?

its going on a 94 jimmy, same thing as a blazer, either me or my borther will be painting it
