Boiling an egg..

Ever try to peel a boiled egg and most of the egg white comes off with the shell?

Here is the trick to perfect boiled eggs everytime.

1) Boil eggs for atleast 15-20 mins
2) When eggs are fully boiled, drain the hot water and poor in cold water.
3) Drain the cold water
4) Pick the eggs up and drop them back into the pot so they crack.
5) Again, fill the pot with cold water
6) Let eggs settle in cold water for 3-5 mins.
7) Peel away

This method has not failed me yet!

Immediate cooling after they are cooked is key. I also peel them under the faucet with a little running water.

if you find the spot of the egg that has the air bubble, you will usually tear away that membrane , and when you do that its smooth sailing.

One more tip: putting an unlit matchstick in the pot with the eggs will prevent any white from oozing out, if an egg cracks during boiling. Don't know why it works, but it does.

Here's what I do and it works too.

Fill the pot with water, put the eggs in (while water is cold), put over stove and let it boil. Once it starts to boil, cover with a lid, turn the heat off. Leave for 15~20 minutes, dump the eggs into ice water, let cool for a few minutes, and you should have no problems with the egg whites coming off.

That is really interesting - I'll have to remember that! I HATE it when the white oozes out...gross.

i've found that when you boil the eggs for too long the white peels of with the shell. try just cooking the eggs for not as long and the shell will come off much easier.

I crack it against the side of the sink closest to me, then roll it so it's cracked all the way around, then the 2 sides of the shell come off under cold running water. Easiest way I've found yet.
