Bodybuilders and Superheroes

I'm also going to agree with Exodus and add my own personal motivation. I have pretty low self esteem. I wasn't really fat or skinny or popular or unpopular when I was growing up - just average which in and of itself was probably more psychologically harmful than being less (for me, at least).

For me, bodybuilding makes me stand out and it makes me unique. That, coupled with what Exodus said, are my motivation. It has helped me a lot with my self esteem.

I think a lot of bodybuilders have tattoo's of superheros as thats how they see themselves...that a muscular physique makes them a hero.
Some people get into bodybuilding for the wrong reasons, ie, to help with giant egos, as opposed to those of us that get into it for the love of the iron

Good post.

I started because I was picked on and once I got into it I got so addicted to the mental and physical feel of heavy weights that I don't think I will ever be able to stop.
