Bobdybuilders of the 70's and Chest

Just got done watching "Pumping Iron" again and noticed that the BB's at the time had these huge chest that has become really rare today.

Anyone else notice it, what did they do?

maybe the rest of their bodies were not up to par with the chest...as far as size goes....as opposed to todays BB's have incredible size all over

i have noticed that too for a long time. well one reason i'm sure is their steroids they all mad juiced and didn't get disqualified. and it seems to me they pushed themselves past the limit. (more than now adays)

id agree it has more so to do with the rest of their bodies not being nearly as massive as they are today

It's the belly. Bodybuilding is about illusion and bodybuilders of the 1970's actively tried to make their waist smaller which in turn made the rest of their body appear larger.

i also feel that the chest grows faster than other bodyparts....but then again just b/c thats true for me, doesnt mean its true for all

my chest and back out grow my arms so quick its insane i think a big reason is not to say a lot of the bodybuilders now don't start out young. But you look at arnold and lou they were like 13-15 when they started and they worked they're asses off and ate right i think the bodybuilders now haven't really been so up to date on their diets as back in that day. they ate chicken and eggs all day.

I definatly noticed that. Also, In my opinion I think the bodybuilders in the 70's had way better physiques than the bodybuilders today.

Bodybuilders are trying to get too big now a days and all there getting is bigger bellies and waistlines. I think it is still important now to have a small waistline.

And another thing, most of the bodybuilders today are short. IT seems like in the 70's they were taller. Looks like most pro bodybuilders are under 6' tall.

Arnold had 23 inch arms as well as a huge chest back in those days. I'm not sure if there is much bigger than that these days.

I think Ronnie Coleman's chest is about the same size as Arnold's, but Ronnie's shoulders and arms are much larger. Plus his gut diminishes the chest too.
