Spatterson - I thought that you might be interested in this...

We did Reverse band presses today for ME day....

I had a PR of 335 x 2 with the Blue bands....

Then went to close grips with the reverse blue bands....

Got 275 x 5... another PR for me

The last ME exersice we did was the Pin lockouts with the purple bands knoted together and double looped to a dumb bell under the bench...

I was able to get 225 x 2..... Man do those really bite the big one.. there soooooooooooooo tough!!!!!

What a awesome work out today!!!!!!! I love the reverse band exersices!!!!!

I have written you a reply 2 times and it doesn't go through..... Just what to see if it goes through with this....

CROSSING MY FINGERS THAT THIS GOES THROUGH!!!!!!

Our next competion is a few months away.... Which is a good thing.... Ill have time to work on my lockouts!!! I really want to hit over 300+ at the next one!! We plan on hitting some WPO meets soon... I just want the numbers first before i get to one!!!

At the last meet I had 300 at the top. The bar drifted on me and I couldn't recover to lockout the last couple inches!!! So needless to say I'm doing alot of lockout excerises!!!!

Right now I lift in a double poly but I think that I'm going to order me a demin so that I can start working with it..... I respect that shirt ALOT!!!!

I would love to do 3 lifts but im not sure about them..... my squats are really weak compared to everything else..... I'm not really built for squats.... and Dead lifts just screw with my mind!! The weight doesn't bother me but the position of my body does... It just feels so weird!! Did you go through that too? Does it get easier?

Have you used a denim or just poly?

Really, thats kewl!!! Don't worry about the off the chest part then.... if you plan on getting a shirt!!! it will help you get off the chest!!:) Is the meet your lifting in Raw?

I only use the shirt in the meets.... practice I do use a belt and wrist wraps... Have to!!!! I have bad wrist.... thats from my younger years.... lol

Do you train with the boards and chains??? We use 2, 3, and 5 boards....

shoulders

You mentioned about your rehabing your shoulders.... I had a simular problem.... I had a problem with the flexablity of my rotator..... killed me... couldn't even pick up a piece of paper from the back seat of the car.... hurt like hell!!! went to the doc... he hold me it was due to my back muscles being so strong that it was holding my posture wrong... told me to work my abs to equal out the strenght..... and gave me a simple excerise.... hold on to a bar ( or something) about shoulder hight behind you and bend at the knees... until you get a good stretch... hold it there for a few seconds ........ this helped me alot and in a week or so i was fine...... hope that that helps!!!

yes a demin is better...... but its much harder to use,.... you have to be so careful about staying i the grove and it takes alot of weight to get it down..... you and I seem to be about the same in the numbers.... and our size seems to be about the same... so your in the same class as I am ( i think) what I'm worried about with the demin is that we are big women ... that means we will wear a pretty good size shirt..... that means bigger numbers to beable to get the bar to chest..... I'm guessing that i'll have to beable to lockout well over 300 to get the bar to touch!!! I would start with the double poly.... just get it really small.... I ordered my about 2 to 3 sizes smaller than I needed....

So you think a denim shirt is better?

We are going to start workin on equipment. You have to find what works best for you. Denim...if you can use it is much better than poly. With your strong lockout I think that Denim is the way to go, but then Arioch said his wife didnt get shit out of Denim...so you have to find what works for you. It's a trial and error process and we have 6 months to figure it out. Probably have to get a denim and a poly and see what works. The only problem with Denim is the measurements have to be "precise"...with poly it will adapt to you more.

Don't worry...by Nov 31st all equipment issues will have been addressed and you will be ready to rock. Bob Youngs recommends single ply denim for his female lifters...which is probably what we will try.

think of it like this..... your shirt is like a spring being stretched.... as you come down your shirt gets stretch tighter,.... so when your allowed to press then you release the spring and it shots off your chest to about where the 3 board starts..... your going to love the shirt,..... but hate the way it feels.... just always remember to keep you elbow tucked and stay tight.....

Going to a meet without a shirt would be like going to a gun fight with a knife!!! lol

Hannibal..... don't rule out a dbl poly,..... Mine works like a demin.... I really got luck with my shirt.... i think that it is more than 2 to 3 sizes smaller..... i had to cut the back to get in to it.... it is really small...... but i try the 300 and it got it off my chest really easy.... I was really lucky with my shirt like i said... Demins have a tendency ( not sure about the spelling LOL) to make you flare your elbow... which is a problem for me.... Musclehed275 just got his demin and had his first meet in it 3 weeks ago..... he had a problem with it getting it down... got out of the grove and his elbows flared and it came back at his head grazing him and breaking his finger against the rack.... Like I said i have a great respect for the demins.... they are awsome.... but tricky... what do you think??? ;)

I'm confused. I thought a shirt was supposed to help your lockout, not get it off your chest. Or does it help get it off your chest SO that you can lock it out? Ugh...can't I just lift without it?

The shirt helps off the chest and allows you to take advantage of your lockout. So where you are weaker at the bottom (like the floor press)...the shirt helps. And then you lock out the weight. That is why I have been tryin to get you in a shirt and let you practice with one.

IM....I am definitely not ruling out a double poly. Like I said I have talked to Arioch and he says that his wife HATES the denim. Poly is more for people with even strength...and denim is more for people with strong lockouts. That is why I think in the end a single denim will be the best. But we need to get them and let her test them out....especially with the denim...practice and finding the groove are important.

For Spatts we are going to try either a High Performance or a Heavy Duty Blast shirt (double)...against a single ply denim.

Did you say you cut the back out of your out of your poly. I talked to Arioch and he said that it would destroy the integrity of the shirt. Did you cut the back...or all the way up the neck. I am of course going to get open backs with velcro for her. Make the shirt as comfortable as humanly possible.

I am far from an expert on shirts. I am about to order another double ply rad cut...and see what I can get out of it.

Squat suits are so much easier :lmao:

I had to cut the back , there was no way that i could have gotten that thing on!!! lol I have a Hvy duty blast double poly..... it has the velco back half way up.... I cut it the rest of the way.... it works just as the demins do when you cut them..... it takes 3 guys to get me in to the shirt..... lol :lmao: it didn't do anything but help me...... Musclehed275 and I trained with Ryan Kennelly while he was in Florida and he told Musclehed that, that would be the best thing to do with the shirt since it was to tight across the back..... It works awesome you can see it in the picture of my 275 bench.

I don't know anyone who has the body type to do all 3 well.

Kaz.

Carrie Boudreau is the first woman that comes to mind who is strong on all three, and she has done quite a few drug free meets. Totaled about 1100 at 132.

Denim is better period, regardless of who you are, or what your weakness is...look at all the big numbers thrown up,in denim, women or men! If someone isnt using denim correct, they wont get crap out of it, you have to pinch elbows hard to lats, let the bar sink, not pull it down, hit the right spot...measurments do not have to be precise, i sent my measurements in a few inches smaller to insure a tight fit! Cutting the back will not make the shirt lose anything, those guys that do that for a purpose, it gives you more blast off the chest! definetly give the denim a try...when i made my comeback, i didnt know any better, had a double polt, radical cut, everyone came up to me and told me i brought a knife to a gun fight! They were correct!! GO WITH DENIM!!!
