Blood spewing out after inject.

Hey guys,

After doing my routine T injection in the glute (1 inch 20g needle), I had tons and tons of blood spewing out of the injection site after removing the needle and I had to hold the gauze on it for like 5 minutes before it stopped.

I knew I hit a vein when I injected (I felt the stinging sensation), however I probably only damaged on the way in since when I aspirated, no blood came in, just an air bubble.

The only thing I'm worried about is weather any of that T might have leaked out along with the blood. I mean, there was way more than 1 cc of blood that came out so what are the chances that it took some of the T along with it, or all of it?

Just a rhetorical question since it probably isn't a big deal either way.

I actually have 1.5inch 25g needles. For some reason, I find I have much less issues with thicker and shorter needles for IM injections.

Diving that thin-ass 1.5incher, for some reason, scares the shit out of me and incidentally the two times I used them, I hit a vein when aspirating

it can happen with any size pin...you hit a vein and that can happen...you'll learn where to and to not poke over time

You probably injected it all intravenously in which case it was almost wasted anyway.

Personally I've never had a problem using 21 x 1 in the glutes.

Yea not likely. Although veins are low pressure, the force of the blood coming out the vein and the vasoconstriction that resulted from the poke would prevent anything from entering. Unless, of course, you injected it into the vein.

Point taken, however, I have had many successful injections with that needle size in the past.

One thing I just forgot is the injection was done a bit non-chalantly as I injected into the left glute and I'm a righty. It took a lot of coordination to get it done but it ended up shifting around (while inside) pretty brutally as I tried to change positions and get more comfortable to inject.

I don't care about the bleeding though. I just don't want any precious T to leak out.

You won't always feel a stinging sensation when you hit a vein. As a matter of fact, out of the 2 times I have ever hit a vein it's been painless; the only difference is that my blood rushed into the syringe. You probably injected the test into your muscle and simply passed through a vein on the way in and out; happens to the best of us. Don't worry about losing your gear, continue your normal inject schedule. I'm sure the test was put into the muscle...otherwise you'd be short on breath.

I suggest using different sites to inject. Get some 1" 23g pins. Start shooting your delts and quads. You'll be impressed at how comfortable it is given you don't have to twist and turn to poke. You can concentrate on the entire process. You'll get so good, you will have the ability to pinpoint the exact location of veins under all that tissue. sickness

Yea def as swole says get some more inject locations. I don't even inject into glutes. Shes all delts and quads. Poke every 3 days so its 12 days before i hit the same muscle with another poke.

As for hitting the vein i just went through that on a delt and the stinging was really bad and she swelled up a bit with a penny size bruise. Hopefully your heals faster than mine as its still a bit painful to massage.

I always try to have tissue handy to put over the inject site asap just in case.

I got the same problem, only when inj the left glute. Right side never happens. I use 22ga always, can't get any 23gs here.

As a general rule of thumb, arteries will spurt, and veins will just leak.

Ive had blood shot like a foot out a quad once. Stopped bleeding immediatly tho. Kinda cool actually.

You could have lost a little gear along with the blood. It happens to me every once in awhile. I've only had minimal blood come out and wiped it with my finger first and could feel it was a little oilly. Thats only a minimal loss of gear. Nothin to worry about.

And like the other guys said, if you actually shot into the vein, this would be a whole diff thread. Did it once myself and almost passed out. Careless on my part for not aspirating.
