Blood Results - High Protien?

I'm getting ready to run my next cycle, and I just got my blood results back. I've been off since May.

Total Test - 516 ng/dL (260-1000 range)
% Free Test - 1.93% (1.0-2.7 range)
Free Test - 99.8 pg/mL (50-210 range)

But the thing my doctor was concerned about was my total protein.

Total Protien - 8.5 g/dL (5.0-8.2 range)

I usually eat 250-300g of protien a day, so I figure it's a good sign. Why would by doctor be worried?

Oh, and my cholesterol sucks.
Total - 219 mg/dL (<200)
LDL - 157 mg/dL (<130)
HDL - 53 mg/dL (>39)

Is my cholesterol enough of a worry to postpone my cycle? I'm only 26 with a blood pressure of 110/60.

Thanks,
Dave

Your total protein is only slightly out of range, and that is more than likely going to be the case with most BB'er's who consume large amounts of proteins,we won't exhibit the same readings as the average layman.Your cholesterol does need to be brought in check a tad bit before starting IMO.A few weeks of cardio and watching your saturated fat/cholesterol intake coupled with perhaps a little extra fiber and some Essential Fatty Acids should get you within the range in no time.BP looks excellent.

What was your tryglyceride levels?

Thanks Huck.

I wasn't planning to start my cycle until Feb, so I guess I'll just start cardio three days a week again. My strength increases flattened this fall, so I cut out my cardio in October. And sure enough, I started adding weight to all of my exercises. I've put 30 pounds on my bench and 40 pounds on my deadlifts since the end of October (all natural).

The doctor also said to watch my labels for cholesterol, and I realized my favorite snack (Beef Jerky) had 25mg of cholesterol per serving. I usually have about 4 servings a day. I also usually have 1 egg and 4 egg whites with breakfast...

I thought I was too young to worry about cholesterol... Guess not.

Total Cholesterol - 219 mg/dL (<200)
Triglyceride - 55mg/dL (<150)
HDL - 53 mg/dL (>39)
Percent HDL - 24% (>20)
LDL - 157 mg/dL (<130)
VLDL - 9 mg/dL (0-29)
CHOL/HDL Ratio - 4.1 (<5.0)

Your cholesterol levels are actually in the "acceptable" range, according to most experts. The ratio of total cholesterol to HDL,
TCHL/HDL is currently considered the best marker of heart disease risk as far as cholesterol goes. A ratio less than 3.5 is generally considered ideal; between 3.5 and 4.5 is acceptable, and above 5 is considered a significant risk factor. Your ratio is 4.1.

However, since your HDL is likely to go down on your next cycle, Huck's suggestion to improve your profile is a wise one.

Proteinuria is a marker of kidney disease. That is why your doc is concerned. Yours is not real high and probably diet related. If you are worried, just cut back on your protein intake and get retested, and have them perform additional tests more indicative of kidney disease, like urine protein:creatinine ratio.

Well, I'm going to try to lower my cholesterol until Febuary, because I know my cycle will only make things worse....

I was wondering why they were worrying about that and not my cholesterol. Thanks a bunch for the info!
