Blood gush during injection

I pinned one CC of tect cyp. USA made pharm grade from Pfizer. ( I got it at the pharmacy myself with an RX) I injected it into my glute while standing and it hurt going into the muscle. I was using a 22g 1" needle that was new. When I pulled the needle out, a fair amount of blood squirted out and landed 10" away from where I was standing. I've given myself thousands of injections in the glute and have never had this happen. Any ideas what went wrong?

you nicked a vein. when you injected and it hurt that was a signal that you hit a bad spot. in the future make sure you pull out, swap needles and choose another spot instead. sometimes the body/muscle/spot just doesn't want to cooperate

It's also possible to pass the aspirate test if you went all the way out the other side of the vein. This will cause aspiration to show you are not in a vein because you aren't. But by putting 2 little holes in the vein it will bleed pretty good once you remove the needle. About 5min pressure with a cotton ball should stop the bleeding.
As above you were in a bad spot. Remember how it felt and if you feel that again instead of completing the shot stop and fix the issue and get a fresh needle and move to another spot.

That's what I was thinking. I use a 25g. Why make unnecessary large size holes in your glutes. Also you should be using a 1 1/2" pin.

Haha, Fuck yeah. Now you get to clean up blood spatter and see how hard it is to get every last droplet! I remember spurting all over my keyboard and tower, shit went everywhere.

The length of the needle should depend on the amount of tissue where you are injecting. 1.5" is too deep for my tush. It hurts like a bitch. If I was a super heavyweight powerlifter then 1.5" might be needed.
