What options are out there for BC that would be ideal for a physically active female?

Depo shot causes low sex drive, bloating, lethargy. It's out!
The pill, don't think it's the best option since it's stress full on the liver and combining it with anabolics wouldn't be best.

Anyone?

I am happy with my IUD. 12 years of totally non-hormonal protection, and it's "lifestyle" friendly.

There are pros and cons with all of them. Seems like there was a thread about this not too long ago. I remimber that some one mentioned the IUD. You could do a search.

They're harder to install if one hasn't had children, due to the size of the cervical opening, and doctors seem wary of giving you one for that reason. But they still work.

You know what I find disturbing about that? They tell you they have to "install" it when you're on your period, yet the opening of the cervix is larger, and the cervix is softer and more "pliable" when ovulating. I don't see why they don't do it at this time so it's more comfortable for everyone. A simple blood test prior to the procedure will rule out pregnancy. Perhaps it's because a larger opening also means great chance of infection both during and after the procedure.

At any rate, at least one person in here has one, and doesn't have any kids. I don't remember her saying it was any more difficult than what I remember experiencing.

If it didn't require years of med school and insane insurance fees, I'd make a name for myself as an athlete-friendly gynecologist. (Why not, if there are athlete-friendly plastic surgeons?)

I'm really getting fed up with the way doctors push hormonal birth control and refuse IUDs to young childless women who want to take responsibility for their fertility.
