biggest Tool rip-off

New member
has anyone heard the band 'Earshot'? they are hands down the biggest ripoff of tool. disgraceful.

i forget the title of the song i heard, but i was just so taken back on what a blatant ripoff it was.

but yes, more and more ripoff bands are popping up. it seems like there is no originality in the music scene, except for the whole indy/emo scene...but i think that stuff is shit.

early 90's to the late 90's were the best time for music. sound garden, nirvana, rage against the machine, tool, korn, deftones, marilyn manson, incubus (before they turned into a bunch of girls), snot, limp bizkit (before durst was a huge sellout faggot and his band being a joke), nine in nails (yes i know pretty hate machine was in 89), vision of disorder...damn, too many to list.

now all of the music coming out is just blatant ripoffs and recycled shit from the previous decade. where has all the talent gone?

You were listening to the song "get away"- I first heard it on streetwise.com about 8 months ago and it is a ridiculous Tool ripoff, especially the way they recorded the vocals. Layered just like Maynard- crossed over and the exact same scream. Good song though. Pretty decent album but not great. Not afraid is a good song. How can they not realize how obviously the singer sounds like Maynard? Weird.

Take a listen:

All the talent is underground mostly......just like it usually is. If you like rock/metal try bands like.......

Kyuss
Monster Magnet
QOTSA
High On Fire
Fireball Ministry
Dozer
Los Natas
Mammoth Volume
Spiritu
Puddy
Alabamba Thunderpussy
The Last Drop
Atomic Bitchwax
Hoek
The Mushroom River Band
The Brought Low
Hermano
Farflung
El Caco

etc.

Or you can go to www.stonerrock.com and check out their mp3 jukebox for a shitload of tunes. You can also send me a private message and I can give you info for my ftp. Unfortunately I will be out of town for the next week but I can hook you up when I get back.

I still think Puddle of Mudd and Godsmack have completely ripped off Alice In Chains. They could at least come forward and say the band had a big influence on them for christ's sake...

Nice avatar :)

I totally agree with you on Puddle but I have never seen the comparison to Godsmack aside from the name of the band itself. Hell, I've even tried listening to them back to back but that didn't help whatsoever.

There's this guy at a local flea market that sells brand new power tools for about half of what Home Depot sells them for. I think he's ripping off the tools....... oh wait...... you're talking about music....

Okay, Godsmack MAYBE I could see being compared to Alice in Chains. It's a stretch, but I'll give you that one.

Puddle of Mudd, tho? No way. Wes Scantlin doesn't sound anything like Layne Staley, IMO, and the band's sound is completely different.

Godsmack has said that Chains was an influence. Puddle of Mudd? No way ...

come on people!, godsmack is such a BLATANT ripoff of alice in chains. they even took their name from an alice in chans song, 'god smack'

Here's some bands I think you would like:

Dishwalla
Limp Bizkit
Saliva
Nickleback
Lit
Less than Jake
Blink 182 ( I think they have a new cd out)
Korn
SUM 41 - Underground/might be hard to find
Boxcar Racer- also sort of underground
Creed

Its just a few on my list, but let me know if you want any more recommendations.
