biggest gym rip off EVER!!!

I just have to get this off my chest, sorry ahead of time for the bitching. I have been a member of my small local gym for the past 2 years. It’s small and expensive but it does the trick. I first signed up for Automatic withdrawal from my checking account, and in the first 3 months I had 3 late fees (how this happens with auto-withdraw you got me?) But anyway the fees added up to $309!!!! And the actually took this out of my account I shit a brick. It took me a month to get my $$ back. And just last month, on my new payment plan I sent a payment in a week early, they supposedly didn’t receive it yet, and on a $29 membership fee, they charged me $74 for a late charge! I can’t believe this crap, anyone else have problems like this, I’m thinking of joining the big gym in the city just to avoid this crap.

You pay every month? Is`nt it cheaper to pay for 6 or a year? Even If it is`nt, I would pay 2 months at a time if your tight on money.

That is WAY too high of a late fee.

bro with the fees they have been raping you for, you could have bought your own set up for the garage...lol....not trying to salt the wounds or anything

my gym takes mine out like that too but its only 18$ a month...but i signed for a yr and they said i could drop if i was gonna move and i tell em im movin and they say i have to send in a bill from my new place. fu@@ers! now i have everything at home in my garage and i still gotta pay 18$ a month.

No contracts at my gym...but a $5 donation to the Gym bucket is greatly appreciated.

dude, go to another gym. they are ripping u the fuck off. shit....they may end up getting you broke!! its not worth it. tb

yea, I thinking its time to leave Im going take a close look at my contract and get out of there. I signed up for year though and that wont be up untill jan, so I have to pay $29 for the next 4 months at least. THanks for all the replys, glad to see someone is listening.

dude.

Finnally an era of my expertise. I work at a bank. I have for over 2 years now. This kind of thing happens everyday. I work in customer service and take customer calls about their account for 8 hours a day. Gym's are notorious for this, its how they make a lot of their money. becuase some people just accept the fees and go on. PM me if you want to and i will try to give you all the advice i can. But your bank could let you fill out an affidavit to get some of that money put back in your account im sure. if they are drafting more than what they agreed, then that is not legal. also, when you are saying that your charged so much more, is that becuase of Overdraft Fee's from your bank, or from the gym??

i hope some of this helps.

IMO leave or pay cash. However I think the big rip off is when they dont let you leave until a certain period of membership, I think that is a rip off!

screw that man, leave the gym, instruct your bank not to authorize anymore payments to them, and gell them to FUCK OFF!

fuck the contract

if they are drafting more than they said they would, your bank can take legal action to get the money back in the account. also you could just put a stop payment and have their draft rejected.

I am a gym owner and I never have this problem these guys are running a scam for sure, our late fees are $10.00 I charge $35.00 per month and have every piece of hardcore shit you could want and 500 watt stereo. I switched to EFT because guys would pay late all the time and I have Bills to pay. If you like your gym and the owner is a good guy remeber that if he lets you use chalk and listen to what youwnat on the radio do him a foavo r and buy your drinks from him, get your supplements from him and do what you can to keep him in business. My guys forget how good they have it all the time and bitch like litte cry babies all the time

Fraud and embezzlement are popular in big biz.
That's why corporate gyms suck.

Guys in suits running the gym. They've probably never touched a weight or even set foot on the floor.

Oh, and this type of "accidental overcharge" has happened to me twice.

Well I signed up for a year and that brought my payments down to ($29 must pay fopr a year) a month instead of ($34 monthly and can quit any time). I did get all of the money back when they overdrafted my account. THey no longer have acess to my account and I have to mail in a slip each month, they are saying my last payment hasent arrived yet, and my major beef is a $74 late charge on a $29 bill, f***** bull S***. But anyway the gym manager is a fat guy who never steps foot in the place other than making smoothies at the front desk. He is a real nice guy though and has always taken good care of me. Its just the financhial company he has taking care of the billing that are total a** holes. Ive deciede to pay up until my contract runs out in Jan. and then get the hell out of there. THanks for all the replys and karma to ya.

I find that odd also, you'd think that they would want someone who loves their product to be manager of a place, someone with enthusiasm for what they are doing and the passion to share it with others.

The manager at my gym is a thin fat guy, you just lose confidence in the gyms mission when you see that, it's like he obviously doesn't think much of training otherwise he would.
