Bigger wrists?

When i put my hand round my wrist the fingers overlap with more than one inch.

This means that I am one skinny mother, (and it looks pretty fucking stupid to have finger-sized wrists, they're about 6,1inches)

but what I want to know is wether it is possible to increase the circumference of the wrists? I do lots of forearm work, overtraining probably but I'm just so motivated to grow some bigger wrists... Can it be done?

want

I swear that my wrists are larger now than they were before doing strongman. They have to get stronger...

heavy deadlifts will pull more size on your wrists than doing wrist curls.

I am currently juggling a shot put which seems to help with tendon strength.

sledge hammer leavering, and other leavering devices (hammer of thor etc)or plate curls

but you are pretty much stuck...just work heavy......there aint no muscle bellys that will make your wrist bigger...they all thin out at that point.....your only luck is the connective tissue

i believe that it should be possible to make your wrists bigger.

Whenever i do wrist curls, the muscles/tendons at my wrist swell up alot. So if u can get a good pump in your the muscles/tendons at your wrist joint then it should be possible to increase the size of them.
But ultimately your bones wont grow alot. They make become denser but they wont become really wide.

endpoint: do you know how much anderson weighed at that pic in your avatar?

I believe that is Shane Hammond...that "fat" guy is one of the strongest men on the planet.

Let's not forget that there is a definite bone growth response from resistance training albeit a slow process. If you were to be able to compare skeletons of an 18 year old (bone growth done) compared the same person 10 years later after regular resistance training you would see a huge difference in the thickness and structure of the skeletal system.

For example have you ever met a brick layer with small wrists? Those guys that have been doing that for years have forearms that are insane.

Now I don't think your ever going to have 8" wrists but I'm sure in time they could gain some.

im only 16 and still have few yrs to grow, but sheesh my wrist are small as hell, there about 5.2 inches in circumference and this is bad cause it makes my forearms look smaller even tho tey are small.
would lots of grip training make my forearms or wrist appear bigger?

your forearms will get bigger.......thus making your wrists look smaller.

I am going for my coc#3 and i train everyday. the biggest increase in mass is in the forearm.......when you are typing it would be the inside forearm (if that makes sence) this is the only area that has grown using cocs.

there is so much to grip training its not funny.

start with hammer leavering and plate curls...they will build your wrists more than a COC ever will

The muscles that clench your grip are on the inside, as endpoint pointed out. Wrist movement, on the other hand, is caused by the wrist flexor and extensors. Those go around the entire circumference of your wrist. You're likely to gain a lot more size working those than working your grip, although having a crazy grip is important for other reasons.

Demn, I thought that was Paul Anderson aka The mightyest minister... Anyway, Give me 1/4 inch on my wrists and I will be happy! Curls it is, and I'm gonna try to stop using straps for most of my deadlift work.

A hammer lever is when you take a sledge hammer in one hand, ( as far down as you can hold it in a controlled fashion) and sort of move your wrist up and down, or sort of swing the hammer like you were going to hit something, if that makes sense.

hmmm, i have dumbells where u can add or take off plates, would it work if i put maybe 5-10 lbs on one side and kept the other side empty so i can hold onto it,and then perform this wrist movment.
wat do u guys think of this?

yep thats cool.......thats very good actually.
kinda like the http://www6.mailordercentral.com/ironmind/prodinfo.asp?number=1255&variation=&aitem=27&mitem=34 from ironmind. just remember to work your wrists in a 3D plane....side to side, front to back

you know what? I never even thought of that.

By the way, how long does it typically take for and ironmind order to come in?

i did some of that hammer stuff with my homemade dumbell hammer ,did like 4 or 5 light sets of 30 reps.
im curious tho will doing this everyday or so help my wrist thicken a little bit over time?

I've got a ligament inflammation (sp?) in both of my forearms, probably cause thay are puncil sized. Now, some ppl say "work around it and make them stronger" while some say "let them rest and heal".

What do you say?
