Big problem... need advice

I am in the midst of a 10 week test cycle on my 3rd week and I just came down with a sinus infection. Will taking anti-biotics screw me up? Will I get even more sick if I continue to train? What shoudl i do?

your fine the only thing i could think of that happened to me was that i got tired from the medicines i was taking. but i was no biggie just drank an iced coffee beore i lifted and i was fine

Antibiotics make me feel like shit and give me a nasty taste in my mouth. Since your AS are just starting to kick in, you might as well keep on going. Train as hard as you can-just don't overdo it.

Also, if you tan you might wanna take a break from it, or at the very least, reduce your exposure time. Antibiotics can increase your sensitivity to sunlight/tanning beds big time.

FYI-Do you have health insurance? If not, you can always save a few bucks by buying Fish Antibiotics from the pet store instead of filling the RX for antibiotics your DR gives you. It's the exact same shit. RX companies sell their broken/imperfect pills to companies that re-tab them for use in fish tanks. Of course on the package it will say "not for human consumption" but then again, EQ bottles have the same warning and that doesn't seem to scare anyone.

I've used fish antibiotics myself for years instead of filling my Dr's RX when I'm sick. Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Penicillin, etc., can all be bought at Petsmart for about 50%-75% less than what you'd pay at the RX. Don't expect your Dr to back me up on this though-he receives $$$ kickbacks from RX companies based on the volume of products he prescribes to patients, so naturally he's going to say your nuts for even considering this. Get well soon beee-atch!

Dude, I swear to God-it's the same exact shit without the FDA's stamp of approval. Think about it, it can't be any more risky than taking some 3rd world country's steroids-which most guys will do without any second thoughts.

I've probably had 4 or 5 ailments in the past 6-7 yrs the required antibiotics and I used fish meds in place of a Dr's RX every time without a prob. I've suggested this to many friends in the past, and they initially thought I was crazy until it worked for them too. I know plenty of military guys that used fish med antibiotics in Operation Desert Storm when there was a shortage of RX antibiotics among soldiers. A guy in the army is who told me about using fish meds in the 1st place.

Just be sure to take them a week or so after your symptoms disappear-just like you would with the antibiotics your Dr prescribes. As you probably already know, if you stop taking them too soon, the infection will come back. It will also become more tolerant of the antibiotics you were using, making it even more difficult to get rid of the 2nd time around.

Can you imagine how devastating this info would be to the RX industry if it were common knowledge? They'd lose their a$$ big time! So don't expect any pharmacists or reps from Pfizer,Squibb,Abbott, etc to be supportive of my claims. It isn't in their best interest to be.

interesting on the fish meds... ill have to look into that instead of wasting my time at the doctor because its just extra hassle thx

I think if I were you I would still go to the doctor because you do not know for sure what infection you have. He will know what type, gram + or gram - antibiotic youll need, might even do a culture and send to the lab. I would also take at least an extra day of rest off. For me at least, I find that when I am sick I cannot push myself hard enough to make the workout worth anything anyhow. Definitely take the day off if you have a fever and feel like shit. I have made my infections worse by lifting too hard in the gym, I have trouble going in and containing my effort. Went in for a hard leg day once with a slight fever and within a couple hours of finishing the lift I had a temperature of 104.

During one cycle I came down with a bad cold and took the whole week off, but kept up with the injections just like normal. I came back after that week of rest and was bigger and stronger, so the time off helped me.

you dont need antibiotics for a sinus infection. antibiotics for bacterial infections. you have a viral infection sir. you have a cold.

if you doc does prescribe antibiotics it may be to prevent a secondary bacterial infection that could occur if you immune system is weakened. some docs may prescribe something to give you peace of mind more than anything, and earn his fee for telling you YOU HAVE A COLD in a nice way.

no, juice will not cause any issues with your "sinus infection" or even antibiotics. may be best to rest for few days to let the cold runs its course and not infect other people at the gym.

I wish more people thought like you. I just came down with a cold and think I most probably picked it up at the gym. The people you see walking around sick at the gym are many times the same ones that answer their cell phones while lifting, really annoying.

gotta say this is the strangest EF post i have read in ages. especially on a board filled with meathheads obsessed with steroids .

i dont know much about fish but had no idea antibiotics used on humans were also used to treat FISH!

if this is true, you may need to buy a lot of fish erythrmycin to meet the proper dosage for a human being. think about it...what kind of dosage would be used for a two inch fish? :FRlol:

you may want to reconsider the pet store meds. the above mentioned antibiotics are all generic at this point and if paying out of pocked may be lot cheaper than you think. try online.

you are throwing your money way anyhow if you are treating your colds with medications meant for bacterial infections. if you ever do have a true bacterial infection you may be unwittingly lowering your resistance to antibiotics by self prescribing inappropiately.

LOL! I'm probably the only person who read that who believed you right off the bat. I worked in an animal hospital as a teenager and I used veterinary meds all the time. You're right. Its the same stuff. I saved my family alot of money by filling our prescriptions while I was at work. lol Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Penicillin, HUGE 800 mg Ibuprofen, and even prednisone for my little brother's asthma. Its all the same, bros. The only difference was the bottle it came in and the fact that they don't have any kind of coating. I guess they don't care if the stuff makes the dog's stomach ache. Hell, he can't complain anyway.

See? I'm not smoking massive amounts of crack like many of you probably thought.

I believe the common fish meds I see in the pet store come in 200 mg strength by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. They come 8 to a blister pack for about $4 = .50 per pill. Last time I checked RX versions of the same mgs they were about $2 each. That's a 75% savings. Now you can buy 2-3 more amps of Sos-250 with the money you saved.

Oh yeah, be sure to get diagnosed by your Dr. If you need an RX for antibiotics he'll give you one. Check the mgs/dosage and head out to the pet store and buy the same quantity.

FYI-You just drop the tabs in the aquarium and they disolve over a day or so. They get into the fish's system through the water as it passes through their gills. It's not like you shoot the dose into the fish's mouth with a pea shooter like they do with horses. If you had an aquarium filled with 15+ fish giving each one an individual dose would be a major pain in the ass.

Not good but doesnt sound like a BIG problem :) give yourself a break for 4days if you really feel bad then continue to train, use steroids at the same time, it will not affect your results too much.
