Beyonce goes white

think it's a camera trick.... red carpet has way shitting lighting. so you look darker and cover girl or whatever photo shoots have bright ass lights shining everywhere making her lighter. plus they touch the photos for them.

my caramel mocha goddess better not go michael on us :(

she could be a dark person that loves to tan for some reason though. you'd be surprised how dark people wanna get darker. very odd
 
This has nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with the fact that in this country white is right. Most black women are well aware they have to fit the white standard of beauty - light skin, narrow noses, smaller hips. Same reason white men are apeshit over Halle Berry but wouldn't give 1993 Miss America Kenya Moore (Google) the time of day. Same reason in India lighter skinned women are deemed more intelligent, more successful, more desirable. They market skin lightening creams/solutions to Indian women.

Loreal knows what they did to that picture will make them lots of money. End of story.

You're correct as far as some of my preferences goes. Every once in a great while I'll see a very dark black women with a slight bone structure (somewhat common among Europeans and Ethiopians) along with long dark straight black hair - and I'll think "Damn that's it!". The ultimate combination of features IMO.
It's a personal visual preference, not about white being right.
 
I think really dark black chicks (and I mean dark) are very hot and exotic. This whole blacks needs to lighten their skin is so 1950ish. Look at the grocery store magazine counter and you will see a plethora of magazines, Jet, Ebony etc. that solidly support people of color. Whites simply don't give shit. This is nothing but perceived racism - not de facto.

It's not just perceived racism, it's real. You should check out http://www.racialicious.com once in a while. They cover how even dark skinned comic book characters have gotten progressively lighter over the years.
 
That's Beyonce's real skin tone, she's been darkening it all these years.

No they don't "have to", but oddly they do choose to. Beyonce has been gradually making herself over into the dominant white culture beauty ideal for years now. Same thing Jennifer Lopez starting doing about 10 years ago. She used to be as brown as me, with an ass the size of mine, now she's several shades lighter, has lighter hair, a more caucasion nose, and she's skinnier. Precisely the same pattern as Beyonce.

this is true. i have known a few girls....and guys who have gone this road. it seems they can't accept themselves as they as. new a girl who would get her body hair lightened, so she would look "lighter". and ones that would avoid anything that was percieved "black culture" :worried:

i truly do not understand. society? media? what? i love my skin color and texture...smooth, soft, and suple and i truely don't understand why some of these lady would want to change that.

not often...but if they're making romantic interacial flicks(ex. somthing new) society is more accepting of "different" than it used to be. with this new perspective i'm hoping more films like the one you describe will pop more and more as society is becoming so "accepting"?lol

perhaps - but the perception fair skin = beautiful is prevalent in many cultures. mexican cinema, indian cinema, south american cinema.

around the world - in every country - the people who are the darkest, are usually the poorest.

I do. $$$. Look at at this way. If one or two women, even powerful ones like Beyonce and Halle, stand up and say we're not putting up with this shit any longer they don't have enough power to change the entire industry. It takes a majority to change that type of thinking.

In the meantime a black entertainer could make $1 million looking naturally dark or she could make tenfold that if she just lightens up a few shades and plays the game. If she chooses not to the ONLY thing that happens is she makes less while everyone continues to cash in. There are way more black women than there are opportunities for successful black women so if she turns a job down they'll find somebody else before the day is done.
