I used bumble and bumble SumoTech or SumoWax. They don't work good on wet or damp hair though, so ya gotta blow dry it first, which makes me feel a little feminen, which is why I usually dont use it

Try Alt by L'Oreal. It's new. Works really well, inexpensive so worthwhile to try.

I buy hair glue. That's a lot more stiff than you're looking for, but it will hold any length of hair.
