I didn't enjoy Animal Farm. My mother teaches this to high school freshman. I think it is a necessary evil, but I encourage her to choose another book to replace it.

IMO Insomnia is kings best work ever.

Animal farm leans to the dark side for sure so I can see where it turns people off.

king is great...but i think he's really slipped of late. just finished "dreamcatcher". disappointing. any of you flatulence fans will love it, though...

Yeah, he's not what he used to be. King was way more interesting when he was on coke 24/7. These days, he's just plodding along.

Some of his older stuff...wow. I think "The Body" is the best book about childhood that I've ever read. Likewise, Shining and IT both explored some great themes.

Check out the stuff he did as Peter Bachman...Rage, The Long Walk....amazing stuff.

I like A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking as well.

I can enjoy a good satirical novel as much as the next person. But for some reason, Animal Farm didn't appeal to me. I know all the inner workings of it thanks to Mom, but that doesn't help me like it any. I'm not totally sure what it is about the bug that just bugs me, who knows....
