American Psycho & Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis.

Shogun by James Clavalle

I still mantain that Stephen King is the greatest storyteller of the 20th cenury. Too many "artsy" people hate him due to his mainstream popularity.

king is great...but i think he's really slipped of late. just finished "dreamcatcher". disappointing. any of you flatulence fans will love it, though... :)

off topic a bit, but i think the best book i've read this year is probably "sea biscuit" by laura hillenbrand. don't let the subject matter (a racehorse) discourage you...go to amazon and check out the reader reviews; everyone loves it. i'm not a horse racing fan, btw.

"The Bible" after all it was inspired by God

The "Left Behind" series.

"The Mouse and the Motorcycle" (I just loved that book)

"The Outsiders"

The Sirius Mystery by Robert Temple (cool ideas and thoughts on space and other life)

The Bible.........it's so funny

Anything by Chuck palanhuik, he wrote Fight Club

I am suprised at some that are missing.

Farenheiht 451
1984
Animal Farm
Brave New World
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
The Hotel NewHampshire.

this frequently happens in many art forms, be it music , writing, etc. Some people try to maintain an air of sophistication by disdaining anything popular, regardless of the quality of the work. There is a word for these individuals...idiots.

you're right. if "critics" gave good reviews to what is popular, then they would be completely useless (not to say that they are useful) -- to justify their own positions they have to dislike what the public likes. no one needs an "expert" to tell them to see what other people like.

Mario Puzo books ahve been my favs of late.

Puzo is AWESOME! It's kind of a guilty pleasure but he is so easy to read.

So far I've read:

The Godfather
Omerta
The Last Don
Fools Die

I may just have to go pick up The Sicilian today.
