Actually, when I goggled destroyed "millions of employment", I see a lot of articles on how globalism has destroyed the jobs in the US.

The ones that I've flipped through suggest that unless the conditions of the third world are placed on the US, it will never compete. Ah well. I don't think that it's that dire, but an interesting read nonetheless.

The US doesn't need to have the same costs as the rest of the world in order to compete. We're a fantastic brand.

We could have very easily maintained a respectable price differential and simply explained it as: "We're US-made". But instead, we went ape-shit crazy with regulation and taxes. That drove enough manufacturers overseas that it became fashionable to leave -- all the cool kids were doing it.

Now it's virtually impossible to get those manufacturers back without offering them parity or even more. Think about it this way:

Let's say you have a favorite restaurant. You know it's not the best or cheapest, but it's convenient and you're familiar and comfortable there.

But one day you find a turd in your soup.

The restaurant tells you that it's good for society in general for you to have that turd in your soup.

So you leave that restaurant and find a new one. Turns-out the new one is even less expensive and tastes slightly better.

Now if the old restaurant tries to lure you back by advertising their soup is now "Turd-Free", is that alone going to bring you back?
