Bent Over Barbell Rows--Hand Positioning?

MsBeverlyHills said:
palms down for me-- better grip.

hey Atomic Punk boy-- shouldnt you know these things Mr Perfect...LOL! just teasing :)

Lol. If I come off that way at times, it isn't surprising as everyone says I do it. It isn't meant to offend though. Just one of those annoying character flaws that we all have, and need to work on. Knowz what I meanz?:D Merry Christmas to you btw. I hope that you weren't anywhere close so as to feel the effects of yesterdays Quake btw.

nope-- I missed the earthquake... did you feel it??? I was actually in the car-- ya know those mighty Mercedes have great shocks..haha

Meryy Xmas to you too...maybe this rain will mean snow in the mtns!!!

I start off with palms down and then after my 3 rd set I switch to palms up. I personally and IMHO don`t buy the mentality that palms up works the bi`s too much or that it will detract from your back. Palms up merely puts the arms (which is the weak link) in a stronger position enabling the back to squeeze out a couple more reps or slightly higher poundage.

I never use straps or belts for anything. My rows are palms down (so it further reinforces the antagonist muscles of my bench and strengthens the row portion of my palms-down deadlift) hand spacing equivalent to my bench hand spacing. I think recruiting the bis is up to the lifter, not the grip. My back is somewhere at 45 degrees from vertical, somewhat like a t-bar. Good thread though, I've been wondering about this alot. My experimentation has led me to this way, but some of these ideas on this thread are good. And anything Yates does, with that giant back, would give ya pause. . .

Have been having good success with yates rows last 2wks. I think both ways are good to alternate.
