belly fat putting up a fight. HELP

New member
ok let me start off by saying this looks to be a great, straightforward, no bull forum and i appreciate that.

in 10/05 i was at about 260lbs. 5'9" no less. was very fat and embarrased. i had always been trim and lean until i got married. i went on about a 500cal per day homebrew diet. by 01/06 i had dropped about 110lbs and was at 150. weight training with my bowflex every day, no days off. i went from a 42 jeans to a 29. now im up to about 165 with some new muscle and im at about 9.5BF. my problem is that no matter what i do i maintain a layer of bellyfat right at my belly button. ive got very hard and defined upper abs that show even while resting. my lower abs are just as hard but this layer of belly fat covers them up. also when i bend over it hangs like thick loose skin. my question is what can i do to get rid of this last little bit of fat. any suggestions welcome.

i have no stretching of skin. lll try and post some pix. i can feel that its cellulite, clumpy fat about 3/4" thick. its here and also on my rear side flank.

Bottom line is diet man.. only diet gets you leaner...BUT it sounds like loose skin from losing so much weight... that kind of thing takes time and/or surgery. No quick fix.

im still at less than 1000cal and am cut fairly well except for this 8 inch circle. i had heard that pressure may rupture the fat cells and cause them to shrink. im just searching for anything. i still bowflex for 45min everyday. i do not have a lot of cardio at home though. my job requires climbing probably 80 flights of stairs per day so ive been using this for cardio.

yes i did. in total i lost 112 lbs in 3months 2 1/2 weeks. i see my doctor on a regular basis and all is well on that front. its easier to understand my situation if you understand my job. i work in a papermill on as a recovery boiler operator. it is always 140deg on my boilers and i spend 12 to 16hrs per day on them working. if i eat at work i vomit, its that hot. i also work mostly midnights which means i sleep during the day. if your asleep guess what, youre not eating! after my crash diet ended my appetite never returned. i know that to some its an immediate bullshit call. i had people at work that didnt recognize me. according to the papermill grapevine ive had aids, cancer, a girlfriend, divorce, an extreme cocaine addiction and gastric bypass. my wife and i get a kick out of all of them. i word out religiously on my bowflex ultimate 2, everyday-without exception. i dont know what recovery is. im glad to now have this forum as you guys will understand my obsession. here are some pix and if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, im proud of what ive done!

someone post the pix if you would. thanks

a) you should be proud

b) it's amazing that you got so loose without skin absolutely draping off your body....

c) Putting together the speed of your weight loss with the fact that you do not have dramatically more loose skin would lead to the conclusion that it is simply loose skin you are referrign to dude...

But then again maybe you're just a genetic freak. God bless and good for you. Eat more, gain muscle. There's no need for any adult male to not be taking it at least 2k cals a day on average.

thanks so much.

ill say this as for the skin. i have a local holistic guy who told me that milk was the key to skin elasticity. so i drank it, a lot of it. its the only thing i drink. i go through between 3 and 4 gallons of fat free milk per week. it might be a load of shit and maybe im just lucky as hell but it was worth it to me. as for what i actually ate on my diet here it is.

1 pack instant grits
4 slices lean turkey bacon

if i got hungry i ate a bag of popcorn.

thats daily. like i said, cant eat at work, sleep when im home, worked out well for me.

Dieting is dieting bro... and whatever works, works. But if you want to make the leap into weight training and muscle building... that's just not gonna be enough.

As for milk, YES, it has a positive impact on skin elasticity.

someone go ahead and call bullshit for me so i can put it behind me. like i said earlier, i have done some research on this topic through the pageant sites(beauty freaks) and they swear by it. there is even a piece of equipment designed to do it. while laying flat with your stomach on a roller that is slightly elevated you hold the handles and pull back and forth. by doing this you put all your body weight on the roller. the thought is that the pressure on the fat cells will cause them to rupture and be absorbed back into your system. it warns that if your too overweight the amount of fat that you would send back to your system could be damaging to your kidneys.

i know that its probably shit but it was an interesting read.

i feel your pain. i was 230 at 5'5 and got down to 155 in 8-9 months, and a year later i weigh 170, but i look at lot healthier then i did at 155 but i have the loose skin right below my belly button, i talked to my doctor about it and he said it may never become tight again because of being big for almost my entire life, but i plan on proving him wrong

good for you mike. i was only big for about 6 years but thats 6 years too long. congrats on the weightloss. not everyone can tell that story and it be the truth. i know what you mean by looking healthier at a heavier weight. at 145 people said that i looked sickly. believe it or not i am actually smaller at 165 than i was at 145.

Well first of all amazing job with the fat loss. With a bowflex and an almost starvation diet I was expecting something almost skeletal to show up in the after pictures but you look great.

My suggestion would be to join a regular gym when you get a chance and focus on building some quality muscle through progressive resistance freeweight training.

Never tried it before but a lot of people on this site use to swear by yohimburn for topical spot reduction of bodyfat. Thiomucase has been around for years in the bodybuiding circle to help tighten skin and reduce the appearance of extra bodyfat as well.

And do you have a link to that fat loss roller machine? lol I remember seeing old black and white pictures of people using them in the 30's. I can't believe they're still around today. Would love to read their references. :nerd: Great marketing is most likely what it is.

Best of luck with your continued progress.

You did awesome bro...Look great and ya Im surprised that you dont have loose skin...

Damn 140 degrees...ouch
