Barrycare hits 3 million signed!

Thus the real problem begins.

Adverse Selection >> Taxpayers

Game over.

The people who are banging on the web site and signing-up for BarryCare (we still don't know if they're paying) are the sickest of the sick.

The people who are hanging back and waiting are pretty healthy people who don't want to subsidize the sicker group.

It's a death spiral. Rates will skyrocket. Insurers will take it out of doctors and hospital reimbursements first. Then taxpayers will have to fill-in what's left over.

My Prediction -- you heard it here first: When you add-up the additional premiums + hospital reimbursement cuts (which will be picked-up by local and federal governments) + insurance bailout, the net effect will be $200B on taxpayers in 2014. In later years it will rise to closer to $500B per year.

rats ... Plunkey pays again

p'wnt!

I'm not signing up, and legally if I don't sign up, I'm not acknowledging it as "law". And until they redefine it as a "tax", I won't be forced to pay any fee or fine. (There are legal arguments as to whether or not I'm correct on that technicality, but I'm going with that for now. Thousands of people have brought this up, and the government can't seem to make a valid statement one way or the other, which tells me it's a loophole).

One if the flaws in that plan is that they can withhold the penalty from any potential refunds, thus you would still be paying it.

Plunkey pays. Plunkey will always pay....

So i wanted to know also how many signups are actually paying any premiums?

They won't release how many people have actually paid the first premium invoice.

no loophole...just a poorly thought out and poorly executed cluster fuck...bestowing "loophole" status on it would be giving the creators more credit than they deserve.

how many liberal douche-knuckles does it take to destroy the greatest country on earth?

throw-away question ^^^^

Why not stop spending billions on war and military technology. Health care could be free ten times over.

Why not stop spending billions on war and military technology. Health care could be free ten times over.

Facts:

- 2013 Defense Spending including Contingencies: $672.9B
- 2013 HHS Including Medicare and Medicaid: $940.9B

- Medicare and Medicaid account for about 36% of all Health Care Spending

So let's do some Math:

$940.9B / 0.36 = $2,614B

Now let's actually think:

How the fuck is $674B going to cover a $2,614B expenditure ten times over?

Hey, here's a better idea: Let's just legalize pot, tax it and use all the money we make to take over the world! It's genius I tell you! Genius!

Legalizing pot and taxing it would bring in a shit ton of revenue though

Then you do the math. How much revenue would legalizing and taxing pot bring into the US every year?

Give us a rational guess.

are you asking how much in USD?

Yup.

Alcohol taxes bring in around $6.5B per year all-in (at all levels).

The US government expenditures for 2014 is around $3.77 trillion.

That's 0.17% of our revenue needs. Now let's assume pot is 10x better, which is wildly optimistic.

Congratulations -- You're at 1.7% of our total expenditures.

It would have to be zillions. Just imagine if we taxed it 10% and 100,000,000 Americans smoked a mere $100,000 per year of pot. That would be 1,000,000,000,000 per year! That would pay for all of Medicare and Medicaid!!!

Doooooo it!

If it were completely legalized, the already cheap price would plummet. Imagine ADM cultivating a million acres at a time.

We would have an ultra-low cost drug with extremely high social costs. Sounds like a winning idea to me!

stfu when's the last time you bought any fucking weed?

you know dick.

I'm kinda thinking supply/demand wouldn't really fuckin matter

Last I checked, there is still a fuckload of bad press surrounding tobacco and alcohol, and they are both legal. Pot has basically ALL good press these days...

Seen the price of a patron shot and a pack of cigs lately? And they can't fill the shelves fast enough..

Idk how the fuck you'd think people wouldn't pay top dollar for some good tweeds when the same people continue fork out $8 for a shot and 30 bucks for a fucking carton of cancer smokes

Exactly.

And we'd end up with a ton more car accidents by teens and 20 something's cooling that shit and driving high as piss.

You make it sound like this cluster-foxtrot was accidental. It was simply an means to the end.

Yeah, I'm sure something any sixth grader can buy in a public school has to be crazy expensive. Those guys are rolling in teh cash.

what kinda fgt uses swype?

get an iPhone...fuck my iPhone even hates the word swype

Iphones are nice. I hate the ios interface though.

I have a Galaxy S4. Every bit as good as an iphone, and in many ways much better IMO.

yeah I snapped this picture of you using it...

Lololololol

iPhone increased their screen size just because they were losing market share to other phones, mainly the galaxy.

I won't get a phone with a screen any larger than what's on this S4. It's huge for a phone.

That's obnoxious as hell when people take pics with tablets like that. Last year I went to my kids Kindergarten graduation and some Asian family in front of me were all holding up iPad's to snap pictures. I said something like "are you fucking kidding me?" a lil' too loud for a church I guess, cuz a lot of people turned and looked.

I've been on Romneycare for about 3 years, low premiums,no problems with dr selection, pretty good care too, I was told by letters and mailings it was extended till march due to sign up issues, it's mandatory , make sure you still sign up etc etc.

I can't sign up, my insurance got dropped along with THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of taxpayers of the commonwealth, every call is hours and a different excuse everytime. They threw millions to the SAME web developer as Obamacare. The original one worked fine.

The media and our leaders have been basically silent about this
A few small newspaper articles, you dont see this on tv.
