Bananas

fair enough...but the hi gi from a banana cant really hurt before training if your just going to use it for fuel..ull burn it up right?

"Eat a banana, it gives you potassium and energy!"

When people say things like this, I basically feel like killing them. Extreme, huh?

Fruit will not give you energy for a weight-training session, and it will not improve the benefits of a cardio session. It won't give you any feeling of energy at all. If you want potassium, there are foods with more potassium per calorie (low sodium, too). An example is a tomato, also many other vegetables that have less sugar than tomatos. Shit, you could make an ice/seaweed blender-shake and get potassium.

If you must eat fruit while cutting, you should eat something small and otherwise beneficial, like a guava. That has potassium, too. For pre-workout energy while cutting, my favorites are protein drinks, glycerine, ECA, plain caffeine (500mg), baking powder, speed stack, and definitely not bananas! If I want some form of nutritive energy during a workout, then MAYBE I will take some sugar, but I won't eat it, I will drink it.

Bananas are for monkeys.

I am in a shitty mood from work/school.

One of the biggest things I hate about cutting is not being able to throw a banana in my protein shake. Shakes just ain't the same without the banana. But, like everyone said, they have alot of sugar which ain't good for cutting.

the trainer is a moron.

as bananas ripen the ratio of fructose to glucose changes. very ripe (yellow) bananas are high in glucose and low in fructose. green bananas are the way to go when cutting but they don't taste 1/2 as good as when they are ripe.
