Baking Gear

Does anyone know of a past thread or someone knowlegable on baking gear? Does it really work? Is there a short write up on how exactly to bake it and at what temp the BA will evaporate? Thanks in advance

I have a few bottles of QV enanth. and I wanna see if there is a difference in baking. I am going to bake one bottle and not the other and then do a shot it each quad and see what happens

ok man...here we go. first i need to know what size bottles you have. but im just going to give you a few options. if you have 10ml bottles bake it at 250 for about 15-20min. take out of oven put imediatly in refridgerator. (not freezer!) put a pin in the tops to release pressure. keep in there for about 10-15min. then put it back in the oven (same temp and time) then back in fridge. that should help. if you have a 50cc bottle think about dividing it up into smaller ones. but if you can not then just repeat procedures 2 more times. this should help out. do a search "baking gear" and look for my name. i posted this a while back and got good response. good luck.

i also forgot to mention that the reason i went from stove to fridge to stove was to kill off any bacteria. if you not worried about that then just be sure to release the pressure with a pin every 15min or so. happy baking!

Good advice Pincushion.

I have a question about putting the whole bottle into an oven. Does anyone know what type of rubber stopper is used for the vial? Most engineering rubber compounds use plasticizers, anti-UV chemicals, and additives to give the desired physical properties. Some of these compounds can degrade at elevated temp. For a sample of some of these additives, try Honeywell's website and search for plastics additives.

I'm not saying this happens in this case (especially at only 250F for 15 minutes) but it might be worth considering. If the vials are ever heated by the medical community (doctors) then I'm sure this was designed into the rubber. Anyone know if doctors ever heat vials?
