bad day

Can anybody explain a reason for those bad days we all suffer. For example i trained my chest earlier for the bench press i normally do three sets of 8. Now i don't find it comfortable but if i did would there be a point to lifting that weight. Now today i struggled on my first set to eight, managed 7 on my second set and only 5 on my third. I eat the exact same as i did last week before bench, slept the same, trianed the same body split all week, did the same amount of cardio and warmup work used the same bench and spotter so any ideas why these days happen?

It could be overtraining?
Do you switch workouts every 3 to 6 weeks?
Do you time your rest times to make sure they are always the same?
I would have to say the number one reason for me is motivation and I would bet this is for most people. Also if you are feeling stressed do to work or school I found this can have a huge impact on traning.

Its just a given, some days you are going to have shitty work outs. Somedays I go in feeling like shit and have a great work out.

I'm sure there isn't a person on this board that hasn't been through the same thing. Those days absolutely suck!

But you have to remember that the human body is VERY dynamic. Though we can encourage our bodies to act & react in certain ways by way of training, good diet, sleep, GEAR, etc., ultimately there is no way to control the multitude of factors that make up our overall body chemistry and subsequent level of health and general performance.

When it happens to me, I wait an entire week before working that body part again. If the decline in performance is more general I take an entire week off of lifting period. If that doesn't work, I take a look at wtf is happening in my life that could be causing such a negative change.

My $.02 anyway
