bad appetie

Need help on how to increase appetite. No pot, no shots, no antihistamines, no just shove food in please. Did a search already and looked through 400 topics. Would taking a supplement like N-large for a while and then stopping make you eat more?

have food made. i get lazy and don't feel like spending forever in the kitchen when i'm hungry. if i can make food earlier then it's easier to just hop in the kitchin and grab it.

make sure you eat while you're just sitting around. grab a small snack. i like cheese and crackers. or just drink milk throughout the day.

Grossly overeat at every meal, then between meals, do the same thing. Eat till you are sick, then wait five minutes and eat some more.

I know it is not what you are wanting to hear, but there is no magic pill. It is unpleasant, and sometimes disgusting, but becoming a monster is not the easiest experience out there. If it was, there would be a lot more monsters walking around.

Once you have overeaten long enough, your body will become used to the increased number of calories that you are taking in. You will acheive after some time, a new set point. I weigh 225 to 230 all the time now, pull to 220 for a meet, and lift the next day weighing 225 to 230 again.

I don't have to do anything special with my diet to maintain 225 to 230, it is just what I weigh. But I eat a ton of food compared to the average 170 lb man. It just takes more to feed me. I bet B-fold the truth eats more than I do. He is a lot bigger than me.

I know for a fact from eating several meals with them, that bigokie and Screwball, both eat more than I do, and both of them are pushing 300 lbs.

To get big, eat big. I know you are not hungry enough to eat all that food. When I was 18 years old and 155 lbs, I was not hungry enough to eat all the food necessary either. But I did it. I managed to put on 10 lbs all natural by age 19. Not satisfied being 165, I ate 6 huge meals a day, trained 5 days per week, and ate 2 dozen eggs a day, along with canned turkey, and a ton of beef every day.

By the end of that summer, I was 185 lbs. I have never been below that since then. I cannot imagine, short of a terminal illness, getting back down to the 185 range right now. Getting over 200 lbs seemed like an impossible goal. But it can be done, and it was done.

If you want to get bigger bad enough, you will eat the food. Make up your mind and just do it. It ain't easy. It actually sucks. That is one of the beauties of it. Weak minded people won't ever get there.

That will make it that much sweeter when you do it, because the week that you hurdled on your journey will wish they are you, while you at that time will just look at them realizing how pathetic they are, and think of them only as emergency protein sources.

B, just curious...what was your strength like at 155, or even 185 when you were younger?

Well I've heard of the B12 thing tried it and it really didn't work that much for me, although I didn't try the powdered B12 I tried just the regular tabs.

Anyway here's whats worked for me when u eat think to yourself "gotta eat gotta get big" and keep repeatin it in ur head. And then in b/w meals say to yourself why am i SOO hungry and just eat.

I know it sounds childish in a way and even DUMB(i think it is) but hey it's worked for me and that's how i've put on weight.

OH ye I now WEIGH 200lbs as of this morning and I celebrated by eating 2 bagels with butter and gouda cheese, half a steak i left from last night, and 2 protein american whey shakes with cereal(to give it better flavor). I love 200lbs, I hate the gut i've put on but hey my stomache is stil hard not soft.

I only took up powerlifting one year ago, and 155 was 10 years ago, and 185 was about 8 years ago. So the strength levels were not all that great, but:

At age 17 weighing 155 lbs, I benched 255, and did a high box squat in the mid 300's. No idea on a deadlift, I did not know what a deadlift was at the time. I could do 17 pullups, and could do over 100 situps. I could run 2 miles in just over 13 minutes.

At 185, I was 19 years old, and was benching over 300, not sure exactly how much, because I was an idiot and was training like one, using HIT and Powerfactor Training, and even Static Contraction training. Tons of forced reps. Very dumb. Wasted a lot of training time.

At 21 I was still 185, and quite fighting, so bodyweight did not matter so much, but went to law school, and got into golf. Training with weights was a hit or miss kind of thing, basically trained 3 days per week using pyramids, HIT, Powerfactor and Static Contraction training.

This garbled mess of training continued till age 26 when my brother stumbled across the Westside system on the internet and told me about it. I was unconvinced, and was talked into doing a powerlifting meet by a friend.

I benched 355 weighing 215, and was instantly hooked. I took up Westside training immediately after that. It has been one year, and I have benched 480 in competition, but have exceeded this in the gym several times with a recent best of 525, and was red lighted on butt raise at a meet with a strongly locked out 505.

I really don't think I am one of those people who was born to be naturally big and strong. I have worked very hard, though till recently, not very smart, to become a little stronger than the average person. I hope this helps answer your question.

Eat more carbs. Drinking cans of pop helped me, as the acidity seems to break down a belly full of food more quickly. Seriously, they might not be 'good' calories but I can eat a double quarter lber with cheese, xtra large fries and if I drink a coke with it I will be hungry an hour later. Or you can develop emotional problems and use food to help you cope. That's what a friend of mine did and now she is a really big girl who is trying hard to lose weight.

I assume that if you want to increase your appetite then you want to gain weight. Well what benchmonster said is about right.
The things that I used to gain were simple. My main thing was to get 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Other than that it was pretty much a free for all. I ate lots of pasta, ice cream, drank pop, pop tarts, cereal, oatmeal, cow tails lol(those long carmel candies), and baked potatoes. I also ate at least one triple from Wendys every day.

What benchmonster said is right.....once you force feed yourself long enough, your appetite will automatically increase....at least that is what happened for me......In May of my Junior year in high school I was 180lbs at 5'11" and stuck, then I discovered the joys of overeating...I drank a minimum of a gallon of milk per day, and a whole shit load of Gatorade, I ate tons of pasta and mashed potatos and I ate a lot of meats and fish too.....I drank milkshakes like they were going out of style....potato chips, candy bars.....i was just a total pig.....and that was in May, I was 16, I turned 17 on 6/29/96......by the time school started the last week in August I was 220lbs.....my bench went from about 280 to 330, my biceps went from 15 to a little over 17...I never experienced anything like it....and it was drug free, as i was too young for that shit.....and i didn't use supplements, except a protein powder....creatine was just starting to get popular in 96 and it wasn't real widely used, but then once i hit 220, i have never been lighter since, i could even stop pigging out and i maintained it..at 17, i am probably figuring it was just a growth spurt, part of maturing and all...i graduated in June at around 230.....now at age 23 I weigh 265 at 5'11", pretty solid too, chest is 52, waist is 37 bis 19.5...I have some pics if u wanna see.. best raw bench touch and go is 440, I can't say i nevr used a drug, but i will say that i never used a drug until i was 21 years old, and even then it was just LIGHT doses to get through a sticking point.........I still have a huge appetite, I still eat like a pig...a lot of fat and protein and carbs...but I find as I get older i can't eat all the sugar i did because i tend to get fat....I get a kick out of people who say they eat like pigs and can't gain weight, i was out with an old buddy of mine a few weeks ago and he was saying he eats like me but can't get over 175lbs...I just started to laugh, we ordered wings and he barely ate a dozen, and I inhaled 36 and a few slices of pizza.....people have no idea the kind of hard work it is to be a pig, but when u get used to it, U start to love food, hell, i will sit and watch the Food Network sometimes.....anyway, I went on too much, but Benchmonster's post got me thinking of the good old says and how much fun it is to step on the scale and every time see an eye popping gain......I will give you a littlle advice.....stick with food and a ton of it....don't fuck with supplements except maybe a protein powder or an MRP because they are nonsense and I don't feel they work.....If you decide to use AAS, wait until you've trained and eaten like a pig for a at least 5 years and have hit a true sticking point, and even then just use the smallest amount possible to break you through the wall, then cut it the fuck out until you get stuck again.

My question has been thoroughly answered. Thanks everyone. Got a little problem though, how do you keep the cholesterol down? 2doz eggs is 980% of daily value!? (70%x24). Have any of you had a problem with cholesterol? Hypertension/high blood pressure runs in the family.:(

You can eat egg whites or egg beaters if you're concerned about your cholesterol.....if you want you can make a dozen eggs and throw in say 3 yokes......eat chicken and fish instead of red meat.....drink skim or 1% milk.......these are a few things to spare your cholesterol, but I honestly am not concerned about mine right now, at 23 I don't care.....maybe trhis is dumb, but it is just how I feel.....last time I had blood work done was when I was 21, total cholesterol was 183, I forget the HDL/LDL breakdown, but the Dr thought it was fine.....had my blood pressure checked a few months ago and it was 118/80, so as long as everything is in check, and I keep getting stronger, I am gonna keep eating like I do......one more thing....I may be wrong on this because I am not a big west side follower, so somebody please correct me if I am, but I recall Louie Simmons reportedly saying something like cholesterol produces testosterone, and his results speak for themselves, and the guy is one solid motherfucker....so force down those eggs and go for regular check ups and enjoy awesome gains.

If you are 40 or 50, then worry about the cholesterol. I am about to turn 28, and I don't sweat the cholesterol at all. I eat a lot of red meat. But I eat a lot of chicken too. I don't eat like I used to, though.

But if I decided to go up a weight class or two, then I would go back to eating like I was 19, and I would get there pretty quick. But I am about to outgrow the necks on the largest dress shirts you can get without having them made. And that will get expensive.

props to you popeye, any thread that advocates pigging out is good shit ! lets see those pics bro of the beast you created !

Bench, I couldn't agree more, I am not gonna even bat an eyelash at my cholesterol until I approach 40, and at 23, that gives me at least 17 more years to do what I'm doing.... mainstream society is on some kind of a chicken salad eating, pita wrap chewing health craze, if you want my opinion, I would much rather biscuits and gravy...or a nice fat steak cooked rare.......Gmanlax, I have some pics on here, I don't know how to post, but I can send them to somebody to post.....these aren't training pics, just pics, I understand that training pics would be more appropriate for this board, and I plan on getting some done of my lifts, and possibly a video of my snatches and cleans to send to someone to post for critique.....but I will gladly send someone the pics of myself that I have on my computer if they wouldn't mind posting, like i said they're just of me, they aren't training pics, so I don't wanna piss anyone off my second day on the board. But just let me know and i can send them to be posted

Happy to hear about eggs.

I think eggs are the best cost effective food for muscle gain. Eggs are only $1 a dozen and have the best protein quality of any food. A $1 a day egg habit will increase gains faster than anything else at a compairable price out there.Eggs taste great too!

Popeye,

I am liking you already. I managed to put on a little bit of size using the eggs and buiscits and gravy method myself. I don't look like a bodybuilder, by any stretch of the imagination, but I am hardly the 135 lb walking stick I was when I started lifting either.

See if that works. I am a week under 28 years of age in those pics. I am five foot seven and a half, weigh 225 to 230.

Not nearly the eater I used to be, as I said. But if you could see a pic from 10 years ago next to any of those it would shock you.

Right before bed is a very important time, especially if you sleep a long time. Whey protein is absorbed too fast, so you need something to slow it down. Make a shake out of whole milk and whey protein, and just chug it down. You can easily get another 50-70 grams of protein like this, as well as the additional calories from carbs and fat in the whole milk.

And eggs are great. And there has been a lot of research showing that dietary intake of cholesterol is not as great a factor on serum choloesterol levels as the chicken little media portrays.
