Wanted some advice on what direction to take on squats. I increased my 5 rep max from 185 to 355 in about 6 months using the 20rep program and madcow's 5x5. I did that in Iraq though and now that I'm back in the states I'm running about 20mi a week and cycling 5/6 days for between 150-200mi a week. I have to be a fairly good runner because I'm in a recon unit and am cycling because I enjoy it. Its too much work however combined with heavy squatting. My program looks like this:
Mon 5x5 back squats ramped to 355
Wed 3x3 OH squat to 155, 3x5 lunges per leg up to 175
Fri 4x5 front squats ramped to 270
I'm not too concerned about mass, I'd actually like to lose about 2in in my thighs so I can fit in my pants
I was 230 in Iraq and am down to 215 but would like to drop another 15 for cycling. Obviously I need to decrease the workload, what would be the best route to take minimize strength loss?
