In your opinion what is the best exercise for back WIDTH in the top to middle part of the lat?

(I was going to make a poll but there is too many movements to list)
 
I think my favorite and the one i feel widens my back the most would be

close grip pulldowns.

Pullups-wide or shoulder width grip..I know lots of people don't like the wide grip and feel that it puts a negative stress on the shoulder but when I was doing these I got some great development in the teres major\upper lat area...

Also a somewhat overlooked exercise-Nautilus or machine pullovers\works great on the area you are describing..
 
Deffiantly and type of pullup movement. I do 3 sets wide grip followed by 3 sets closegrip. When I really want to burn them after each set of pullups I'll super set them with high cable bar pulldowns(not sure what to call the exercise).
