It has to do with eating HOME COOKED FOOD and walking. Most of the locals can not afford to eat out, can they? No fast food or expensive prepackaged crap which is what most Americans live on. And yes, the clothing is very expensive. So now, if a girl has money to dress "well" chances are she is not eating at 5 star restaurants or even MacDonalds, et al. She is eating wholesome simple home-cooked food. period...

See, by "American standards" these people are "poor" but they don't "know it". Understand what I mean? This means they are not insatiable. They live simply. Is it better or worse? Not for me to say. I suppose the grass is always greener.

Part of this has to do with suburban living rather then city living suburs are designed to drive every where. I would never want to live in a subur again. I can walk to pretty much everything vital to me except work that be at least an hour walk. However the gym grocery stores etc are no more then 10 minute walk from me and I love it.

I agree with much of what you're saying here, but keep in mind, Obesity is an addiction just like any other drug.
Avoiding fast food and walking will not in any way help the morbidly obese.
I work with a guy who was 500lbs. He just had gastic bypass. He never eats out and walks all the time, but he consumes over 150000 cals a day. He's addicted to food.
The addiction needs to be worked on b4 the eating well and walking (exercising) begins.

Seniors who have to choose between medication or eating? Outside of the trailor park you live in, where do you see those? I have four grandparents who came to the US when they were 60+ years old. Their healthcare, food, and housing is all but paid for by the government. My grandfather has had millions of dollars of medical procedures for cancer, glaucoma, pacemaker, etc. taken care of by the government...and my other grandparents have as well. Find me another country in the world that will accommodate senior aliens this well.

The stupidity of your argument is really summed up in that last paragraph, where I don't even know WTF you're talking about. First of all, you pretty much shrug off the opportunity provided by this country and then start spouting off about some conspiracy theory bullshit. My family lived in an apartment in Ukraine smaller than what my grandma lives in right now...when we came here my dad was a janitor. Now we're what you'd consider upper-middle class. For the record I don't know any people whose lives have been ruined by a false allegation, nor have I ever heard of any. But if you want to talk about corruption in the courtrooms, I suggest you start with a country other than the USA.

Yes, we have a growing middle class, and yes we have pretty high poverty rate. But what you fail to understand is that our poor live better than a lot of countries middle class.

Wake up call -

I was born in the United States and I am talking about ME.

My parents don't get the quality of health care that your grand parents are getting. Why is that? My parents are naturalized tax-paying citizens. Hell I was freaking born here and I haven't been able to have affordable health care since before I divorced my exhusband over 4 years ago so WTF am I doing wrong?

My parents moved here with nothing from Magyar Orszag. My father had nothing but the clothing on his back and my mother one change when she came ten years later and subsequently married my father. My father's first job as as a ditch-digger for PSE&G and yes, he was also a janitor for Rutgers University so that when we were college age we could get free/reduced tuition. But he was offered an opportunity to become self-empolyed and I ended up paying for my own education anyway.

Did my parents have better opportunities here then they would have had they stayed in their native country? Undoubtedly. But were their children better off?

Their children (WHO WERE BORN HERE) are leaving the United States and going back to the country their parents left or who knows where ever else. In my community 95% of the children that were born in the United States have left and either moved back to Magyar Orszag or some other country outside of the US. Please explain that. Is it simply some sort of ethno-centric wanderlust indigenous to the children of Magyars who immigrated to the United States circa 1956? <---- seems a bit far-fetched, dontcha think?

Also MOST of the Magyars (and people from other countries that I have met) that came to the US after the 70's DO NOT STAY HERE. Most have a short visit and decide, "Hell the streets are NOT paved with gold (as the rest of the world seems to think) why on earth would I stay here where it isn't much better and it some ways worse than from where I came? My family and life are back there." They make as much money as they can then go back to their countries of origin and buy a nice house or whatever and live happily ever after chuckling about the time they spent in the US. Chuckling at themselves for their naivite in coming here thinking that it would be sooooooooooo much better.

And I am not the only person who has had their lives RUINED by the American "justice" system. I have encountered and read of many. One need only log onto the internet, open a paper, or watch the evening news. I only log onto the internet. Too much government propoganda makes my skin crawl so I limit my "news" to one source.

If you think life is so superior in the United States then you should continue to live here. Who am I to say you should leave? I am all about being free to choose your own destiny. However, if you think that the citizens of the US are more free than every other place in the world or that there aren't places that are as good if not better to live then who is the one who has an incorrect perception of reality?

You have your experience and I have had mine. There is no right or wrong here, only different. So then you are free to stay in the US as I am free to leave it. :)

I never once bitched when I had to wake up at 3:30AM to be at work for 5AM with four children in tow for 8$ p/hr living in a crappy one bedroom apartment needing foodstamps to feed my children.... did I?

The United States did not afford me the luxuries I have now. My husband did and he was a broke dick dog when I married him.

The United States government did, however, rob me of my ability to earn a living, put me into financial ruin, and has driven me to the brink of suicide because it STOLE my children.... but please do go on about how gratefull I should be for what the United States government has afforded me.

I am just playing devil's advocate here so please indulge me.

Do you honestly believe after having gone on ONE "date a Ukrainian woman" tour and not having ANY REAL ABILITY to communicate with the people that everything is 100% as it was presented to you?

Remember now, my husband lived in the very regions you visited and he paid top dollar to have a liason to protect his interests while he was there. Was just very wise and condusive to good business practise on his part. He was not there to find a wife. He was there on business where a lot of money exchanged hands. The women were just pretty window dressing. If these women were so superior to an American woman, why on earth did he not marry one of them? Also remember, that my husband was harshly taken to the cleaners by every single American wife/live in partner he had ever had.

He had zero trouble "getting a date" in Ukraine or any other former soviet republic he traveled to/lived in and I am not talking w/a Katja. Why would he not have married one of them? Or at the very least, taken one for a live-in partner?

This is a VERY VALID opinion. With this I will not disagree. Yet when there is an American woman who has these values living in America, she is looked down upon.

Please explain this double standard.

they don't look like they are dressed slutty to me. topless beaches is common in europe along the mediterranean sea and aegean sea and i don't think that is slutty either.

As for the women there being more intelligent? You can't really be saying that American women have less intellectual abilities. Are you? Perhaps you are saying that the average American is just less cultured? That would be the men too, no? So why would an average American man require his female counterpart to be "more cultured" when he himself doesn't even hold a valid passport? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

And as for being less drama w/Eastern European women.... think again. Ever piss one of them off? :chomp:

It is just that they "know their place" sadly, as spousal abuse is not only accepted, it is culturally engrained. Not to mention the fact that ALL THE MEN fuck around, regardless of how hot their wives/gf's are. Shit, the women know they can't do anything about it so they just pack the condoms for the men.

Am I talking out of my ass?..... or no?
