i am a deadlifting newbie.
my grip has strengthened IMMENSELY from doing deads, to the point of some incredible forearm hypertrophy (coupled with chins, that's all the forearm and wrist work you need, IMO).
however, it's gotten to around 240lbs for reps, and i just couldn't hold onto it for long enough till my back gave out. i was convinced my grip was too weak to hold the weight, was really pissed.
so i FINALLY tried some "equipment". if you don't know already, i'm all for t-shirt and shorts and that's it type lifting.
lol, call me silly but for me, chalk is equipment.
anyway, i strut over to the blackboard, get some chalk dust (so it's not uber competition grade AAAAA brand chalk, who cares), slape it onto my hands.
OH MY GOD, MY GRIP IS FINE.... the bar was like freaking magnetized to my hands, to the point where my skin was coming off of my hands from everywhere. IT WAS FUCKING GREAT!@!
so anyway, to conclude, all deadlifting newbies, GET SOME CHALK!!!
